    Here in Munich (Bavaria, too) I can see several i3 and i8 every day. I don't know all the number plates which are used by BMW, but I don't think that many of the cars are used by BMW or the dealership.

    Most BMW factory test cars have M-DJ but the Niederlassung (official dealership) usually has different license plates which vary from GI to JL and others.

    I was told by our BMW dealer that sales are ok. I would have ordered a i3 but a) the lease is much too high and b) I can't charge the car in my private garage and not in the office. But probably I am not the typical Porsche owner, I prefer the bicycle or public transport to go to the office because I do not like driving in the city at all

    What do you expect the dealer to say? It may change however because new incentives may be on the way, especially since the government wants to support the spread of electric cars. 

    I like the i8, nice car (interior could be more refined, it is like a mixture from the 21st century with 20th century design elements, kind of weird and outdated) but way too expensive if I compare it to the Tesla S. For under 100k, it could be an interesting product with the right lease offers.

    A bit OT , but I just read an article about the soon to end downsizing of engines. New mesures for CO2 / fuel consumption starting in 2017 will be much more close to reality. And the small turbo charged engines will not get good results anymore . There is often a 40 % difference between the official mesures and reality in fuel consumption . These small engines have been tuned just to pass the test on the bench .  Bigger engines will have a much better real world result .

    First example is the new VW Polo GTI . They dropped the 1.4 l turbo for a 1.8 l . Only problem ......  red zone starts at 4500 RPM  , for a fuel engine .


    Finally! That test cycle is somewhat ridiculous as manufacturers are able to adjust the engine just for that specific test. I still doubt that they will test gas mileage beyond 130 kph, hence the additional fuel consumption when you drive a car harder might not change that significantly.

    Regarding the Polo GTI, I am fairly certain that the rev limiter begins around 7000 rpm. The engine´s maximum power is available from 4.200 to 6.200 rpm. Maybe that, why you believed to see such a low rev limiter?

    Over here, the i3 is basically dead, you can see mostly BMW factory cars or some cars registered to local power companies. Same goes to the i8, haven't seen a single customer car yet over here.

    Keep in mind that I live in Bavaria, the home of BMW.


    They started with some ridiculously high leasing rates on the i3. I believe that put a lot of people off, you could get a 7-series for the same price. And I still believe, that´s the more interesting car.

    If I would live in a very crowded area, as the center of Berlin, I would get myself an electric Smart. Use that car once in a while there and it is just perfect. Small, fairly agile and fits in every parking space. I believe that the i3 is too big for that already.

    I like them i3s!!! Tesla is impressive but that interior. Sorry I just couldn't buy one. Besides I live in the city so i3 is really made for me. 

    The giant screen is a bit of a novelty for sure, but it's a nice looking car.

    Are those renders or the actual?  I know generally those pictures are pretty accurate, but sometimes small differences can make a big difference in the overall design.  

    In any case, reveal will be in a few days.

    I like it more than the M4. It is closer to the E30 spirit... Tough a bit heavy like all modern cars.

    Beating the A45 will be tough, but I am sure it is going to be quite a different driving experience. And I must say I am very happy with my A45!

    1590 curb weight is not that heavy though. DIN is 1495kg.

    A45 DIN = 1550kg

    CLA45 DIN = 1585kg

    still don't like the rear lights of the 2series.

    interesting to see how it compares to the rs3 and new A45. these small cars are now getting seriously fast!

    that M3 steering wheel somehow looks HUGH in the tiny interior.

    The BMW M2 is rumored to be priced at $51,000 in the US while the Porsche Cayman GT4 starts at $85,000 US.

    Well, if the media compares the M3/M4 with the 911, then this is the obvious choice. Apart from that I assume that also Beamer hardcore drivers like the idea to spend much less for 80 percent of the (M3) fun. I do like it (though for me it must be something like glacier silver).

    German base price is 56700€ with Mwst. It is very good price indeed since option list is not very long.

    4 exterior colors only and none is Silver. Alpineweiß would be my choice since it would bring some nice memories of the first car that my late father had when I was small kid in 1970s, 2002tii in white. I loved it much more then 123 series 240d T model that my family also had.
