Thanks Andrea,
I personally think that the 5.3 sec for the acceleration time of the Cayman S is more political than anything else.
FWIW, it should be about as fast as the regular Carrera, don't you guys think?
I could be wrong.
Depends how much lighter it is compared to the Boxster.
490hp is nice, but it'll be much heavier than the 430 so the match should awesome!
And 550 hp for the GT2! Sweet!
All this to be confirmed of course!
Thanks for the link!![]()

I thought the one advantage of the 911 with the engine over the rear wheels was that it helped with acceleration. So it might not be political at all.

Very good point, the engine on the rear axle, gives it enormous traction off the start.

Both cars have more than enough traction at the rear wheels to prevent excessive wheelspin on takeoff. Unless there is a wheelspin problem, the weight distribution is a non-issue for acceleration times.

How about that the 911 has larger tires in the rear compared to the Cayman. Would that be an advantage?

Rough translation.....
"Only at the end of of 2006 is to be after-pushed a more favorable version with a modified boxing he engine with 280 HP"
What a croc (excuse the pun). How can you come out with an S version of something that isn't even out yet? I'm starting to think Porsche walked backwards through this whole project......from name to price. I gather they want to see how many will fall for the S version first before they release what most wanted in the first place....

If there were wheelspin it would be an advantage because the larger contact area would increase traction, reducing the wheelspin. If there is already enough traction to control wheelspin, increasing tire size would not offer any advantage (speaking strictly of acceleration times here). It would actually be a disadvantage to have a tire size larger than necessary to handle the engine's torque on takeoff; it would just be extra weight.
