Not quite. It frees up space for a bigger diffuser and other aerodynamic tweaks.

I cannot see the reasons for the prejudice against 2 vertical exhaust pipes. Just because we are used to 2 horizontal ones Smiley

then put it in the bumper a la CGT style. That would be even more aerodynamic. It's a 612 GT cruiser for starbucks and golfcourse runs. Give me a break Ferrari.

You obvioulsy haven't driven one... Who cares how the exhausts are stacked when you drive a V12 Ferrari...

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

As Scuderia and the new McLaren shows, there are other more-pleasing-to-the-eye aerodynamic solutions that could be implemented...

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

Man why Ferrari even bothers with the 612?! Smiley

The car is useless and damn ugly.  The Maserati Granturismo does it better. it's better looking, roomier and costs 1/3 of the price. Come on Ferrari Smiley

Last time I checked both of those cars were mid engined so lifting the exhaust up wasn't an issue. A tad more problematic on a large GT car that requires usable luggage space in the trunk I'd venture to suggest  Smiley

The Maserati and the 612 are not even in the same league.

The 612 doesn't drive like you think it would. It is a still a GT and a big car, but it is a dream to drive.

Agree here. 612 is the perfect storm and if you choose the right colour also a dream to look at. Smiley

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

My TDF blue/cream manual 612 is a keeper. Been trying to see what we could replace it with, nothing comes closes when you factor everything in.

Panamera: can't come close tyo the design and presence of the 612

Bentley supersport: only two seats, other bentleys too heavy

    Maserati doesn't have V12

DBS and 997TT back seats are too small

Mercedes/BMW/Audi not in the same league

California would be a downgrade IMHO

Man trust me i know how the 612 drives. My father has one. it feels like driving the 575 which is not very good. try to test drive the Mase Granturismo S and you'll know what i'm talking about Smiley

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

The Maserati doesn't even come with a proper sport oriented gearbox. It has 100 less HP and a lot less torque for let's say the same weight...

Or let me rephrase that for you,

you think the the Granturismo is better than the 612? What of the California then, which is a much better car than the Granturismo? That would make the 612 totally irrelevant compared to the California? Smiley

Have you ever seen the Clarkson video of him driving the 612 when it came out?

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

The 612 is a great and epic car of its own, and i also would have a hard time finding a proper replacement for it. Your color combo sounds amazing. I'm merely stating that im affraid the new design direction will be sort of hideous. It is the cruiser Ferrari afterall with undoubly amazing performance out of that V12, but design direction.....

Exactly, so why are they stacking them Lexus style? Wouldn't that water down it's presence.

First of all, we are talking about 4seater cars not 2. if you wanna include 2seaters, then i think even the 360 drives  waaaay better.  Just so you know i'll take a Cali any day over the 612.

Yes the Granturismo S  with F1 has less power. but still it's one hell of a car and it looks amaaazing. Again, test drive it and you'll change your mind.

i don't know how Ferrari dares to price the 612 over all other models Smiley

And please don't get me started on its  resale value Smiley

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

Well you are young, you don't have kids. No one claims the 612 is better than a scud or a GT3. They are a different class of cars for a different purpose. Buying a 612 for just two people is stupid, get a 599 instead if you want a V12 Ferrari.

Resales value are not good, never been on these cars (actually all the above mentionned cars have bad resale value because the fast hot money wants the more sporty/flashy two seaters). But everyone buying these cars knows it, no surprise at all. Which is why I got it used...

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

The way I see it, the 612 offers supreme V12 performance wrapped up with comfort, space and refinement. It's for the customer who would consider or have owned a Bentley GT or a Mercedes CL AMG.

Totally different appeal from the mid-engined cars.

The California is Ferrari's "budget" front-engined GT, so by definition it is rejected by the very wealthy, unless it's a wife's car.

Seriously replacing a two year old AM Roadster by a California, now that's throwing money out the window.

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

If I had to start over I would get the California and a Maserati Grancabrio. But would have never been spoiled by the V12 Ferrari or the AM experiences.

    Too many cars out there...

    Re: FERRARI 612 SPY SHOTS

No, no, not too many cars... just not enough money... Smiley with the well known exception of Mike Smiley
