    Comfort Entry Function

    Hello everyone,

I am new to Porsche. I have a problem with my back. Getting in and out the vehicle is a bit difficult for me. Is there a way to make the seat retract ALL the way back when opening the door? Thanks 😎

I should mention that the seat moves a little bit but not all the way back

    Re: Comfort Entry Function

It sounds as if you have electric seats with the memory function.   Smiley

Without having tried it on a 991, a possibility which occurs to me is to store two seat memory settings, one (maybe paired to your key so that it is the default setting when unlocking the door) being a setting with the seat slid right back and with the seat back also leaned back as far as you need to give you the necessary room to get in, and a second setting you choose with a "manual" seat setting selection button which corresponds to your normal driving position.

    Thanks for your reply,

In that case i am better off adjusting the seat every time i get in and out the car.Smiley

Porsche should come up with a solution for this problem. The memory function should store 2 seat location not just one. From (A to B). B of course is your preferred driving position.

I realise that that looks like an instance of "stating the bleeding obvious" Smiley, but the situation might be complicated on the 911 by the fact that programming the "entry and exit" position to the key might cause the seat to default to that position when the key is inserted in the ignition. I don't have a 911 with seat memory to hand to check on that.

Confronted with that particular problem on my other car, which doesn't pair seat memory settings to individual keys, I would just program the two required settings to the two buttons inside the door, which naturally would call for the appropriate button to be pressed each time. Fortunately, I don't have that problem, as that solution would not go down too well with my wife, who would then need a non-existent third button.  Smiley

Surely, if you have memory seats then that function does store 2 seat locations, normally meant for two different drivers.  Smiley

As I wrote above, I don't have an appropriately equipped 911 to hand to check on this being practicable. I'm just working from my recollection of a 997 with seat memory which I used to have.

Yes, I don't know what happened Smiley I am surprised myself Smiley

On the 991 it is only possible to store the Driver Position of the seat, not the Comfort Position. The reason the seat does not move all the way back for the Comfort Position is to avoid crushing people or animals behind the seat. No joke Smiley

I can imagine that really would be no joke. Smiley  The question which now presents itself is whether it would be adequate for Jamal if he were to set the rearmost possible driving position as the entry/egress position, which is what I had in mind, rather than the comfort position.
It would be like my wife getting into her Merc with the seat in "my" driving position and then pressing "her" memory button to bring the seat closer to the wheel.
I, on the other hand, have to stand outside the car while pressing "my" button to move the seat back if I want to avoid cracking my skull on the A-post.   Smiley

    Re: Comfort Entry Function

It sounds like his problem is getting in and out of the car which exacerbates his back. The best way to get IN a Porsche is to open the door (), power the seat all the way back, turn your back to the seat and back up to the seat and drop your butt on the seat. Then swivel around with your legs and complete entering the car. Adjust the seat.

Leaving the car just reverse the process. Adjust the seat all the way back. Open the door, swivel your feet on to the ground and use your feet and arms to leverage you getting out of the car.

The next time you enter the car the seat is already positioned for entry.kiss
