Is the 997 a 2006 or 2005? My reason for asking

is in the Autoweek classified, a dealer in VA is listing several 2006 Cabs in their inventory for sale. I did not think they started building 2006's.

The 997 cabs that are that began arriving last month are 2005's. Won't see 2006's until late August early September.

yes to give to my maid.

Curious on P.32 of Autoweek the dealer is advertising 2006 models. BTW I thought 2005 997 Cabs were in short supply? The have three they are trying to unload.

Re: Is the 997 a 2006 or 2005? My reason for asking

Those three cabs in SD might be sitting there for awhile.

In the 90's, the Porsche ceo claimed that the market for new Porsches was overwhelmingly correlated to the real estate market. Home sales up, Porsche sales up, home sales down, Porsche sales down. Anyway, what they didnt have in the nineties were interest only morgages.

Now 61% of new home sales in Cali are sold with interest only loans. So, maybe Porsche sales arent boomin because homeprices and sales are driven strongly be interest only morgages and those customers would have a hard time getting into a new 997.

Whatever, its all part of my real estate market bubble theory!

There are several dealers who advertise "incoming" cars in Autoweek. They are cars that they have allocation for and a future manufacturing date. Porsche dealer rules do not allow them to charge over window sticker even for the most popular models, so some dealers way of making extra money is to order some of the popular models with every possible option. You could possibly find a dealer with an unsold cab on their lot, but is likely to be a cancelled order or a loaded car the dealer ordered for "stock". There is a dealer in my area that always seems to have cars available, even those in short supply. You pay heavily for that privilege since they really load up the "stock" cars with thousand of dollars of options.

Here is an example of one of their available turbo cabs:
    Y61 - Carbon/Alumimum Tip Knob/Brake
CUV - Storage Cmpt Lid W/Turbo Logo
CPU - Key Pouch Interior Color Leath
CJA - Tip Selector Gate Carbon
CAZ - Front Air Intakes Painted
    Z0997 - Custom Tailoring
    Z88 - Door & Dash Stitch - Dev Color
    Z84 - Stitch F/R Seats - Dev. Color
Z099 - ALL exclusive opts dev stitch
    Z098 - All C/T Options W/Dev. Stitch
X54 - Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipes
XSX - Seat Belts - Guards Red
XSC - Porsche Crest in Headrest
    C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
XMZ - Rear Center Console - Leather
XMP - Lthr Sun Visors Lighted Mirror
    M6A - Black Mats - Porsche lettering
982 - Supple Leather Front and Rear
    750 - Delete Cabriolet Hardtop
    635 - Park Assist System
    586 - Lumbar Support-Left Seat
    513 - Lumbar Support-Right Seat
    342 - Heated Front Seats
    E77 - Carbon Package - Small
    249 - Tiptronic S
    XPD - 3-Spoke Str Whl-Carbon/Leather
