    Only older people know Maserati in its prime. Those who admired the 1960s Ghibli, Bora etc. which were equal or better than the contemporary Ferraris. These people are too old to buy supersports cars now.

    Since then Maserati had nothing worthy to offer. Currently, the Levante and the new Ghibli are very ordinary drives that haven't managed to raise the image.

    Some people will like the MC20 for some of its attributes but very few will buy it. Like the girl whom many tend to like but nobody decides to get married to her.

    Agree and it's a pity. Problem is that at this age and time cars are getting so sophisticated that is almost impossible for companies like Maserati to compete with Porsche or Ferrari. The budget (and human resources) of these companies to develop new cars are so big that companies like Maserati will always lose. In this respect is the route of Lotus better bring a  fairly simple and  affordable car to the market.

    I always liked the Maserati Shamal as well, thought it was just so different to everything else at the time ….

    When I think of Maserati, I think of someone walking into a Ferrari dealership and got rejected to buy a Ferrari, but they got offered a Maserati instead.

    Or, one walks into a Lamborghini dealer and trying to buy a Huracan, and instead got direct to walk across the street to get a Audi R8.

    Or going into a Lexus dealer to get a ES and got sent to a Toyota dealership to get a Camry.

    Maserati simply just don't have the brand power.

    To me, the mention of "Maserati" makes me think of a car with the reliability issues of a Fiat, at 5x the repair cost. No thanks. Smiley

    I ordered for Madame the first year of the QuattroPorte - the  first launch shape was beautiful in Grigio Nuvolari and Couio interior. BUT of course mechanical issues and Maserati bought it back.  Then they changed that gorgeous shape to just another boring car.

    And she switched to the current at the time 600S AMG which is a hot potato too, never to be owned out of warranty.

    2nd Place:

    2022 Maserati MC20

    Highs: Striking looks, surprisingly comfy cabin, 207.6 horsepower per liter.
    Lows: Performance numbers don't match price, V-6 blat.
    Verdict: A giant step forward for Maserati that would be even better with a little more power and less weight.

     

    1st Place:

    2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight

    Highs: It'll dust just about everything, kind of practical, looks like other 911s.
    Lows: Costs $223,230, looks like other 911s.
    Verdict: Your perception of speed will be permanently recalibrated.

    The Maserati is beautiful, no doubt. Also, in speed limited countries, the Turbo S is pointless in my opinion. Perfection can be boring. Smiley I always loved the Turbo S and I always loved the 911 but right now, the only 911 models I would buy are the GT models. Once we have a speed limit in Germany (and with the current energy crisis, this could come faster than we think), cars like the Turbo S are not really interesting anymore. You need something fun for twisty roads and while the Turbo S is fast as hell even on those twisty roads, it is going to become boring fast.

    As a daily driver performance car, the 911 Turbo S knows no substitute though.

    Agreed.  Unless you run the American Wild West hidden on the 2 lanes, it's hard to run 100-160 mph all day long anymore.

    Hammer down sweepers in 2008 GT2.  Just gloriouskiss

    More attention will go to 356 and older Ferrari's where looks and feel rather than 150 mph performance are the thing.
