    Saw my first Cayman on the road

    Well, I didn't want to state my opinion when I saw the car at the dealer when it was launched cuase I wasn't impressed at all. But I saw my first Silver/Blk Cayman S in Houston today and I shall say that this car has much more presence than the 997 IMO.

    No flame 911 guys, I'm a 911 lover myself but for sure the Cayman is a head turner. I was indeed very impressed with its looks . It looks like a exotic/supersports car if you will.

    I hope it will keep its appeal once the streets are flooded with them.

    I give it 5 stars .

    I think you need to go for a test drive next, and no I'm not trying to "convert" you to a Cayman S as you still love your 911. Just a little variety for a weekend drive. Oh, and thanks for keeping an open mind.

    Well, you may have seen your first Cayman S on the street, but tonight I saw my first "on the hook" Cayman...Flatbed actually...
    Apparently there was a Studio 'photo shoot' out at Laguna Seca this afternoon, and whoever was driving had not been to Birmingham or Skip Barber...Tore up the two left wheels and the front spoiler...Pix tomorrow night...

    Cool Ron! Now the testdrive matey!
    I've only seen it in the showroom so far and it looks nice.
    Not amazing, but not ugly either.
    Rear three quarter is a view on that car, from the back, it looks a bit narrow.
    Looking forward to see it in the traffic!

    I saw an atlas grey Cayman S with the Sportdesign wheels lately. I just couldn't stop fantasising owning that car... it is so beautiful! I would love it to have dual exhausts on the left and right, and not centre, but the rest is just perfect! Love it!

    Ron,

    I saw a black one in Dallas this week. It was coming toward me on the freeway and I had a nice long look across the grassy median, thinking "It's a 996... no, it's a Boxster... no, it's a... WOW!"

    On that road,that high roof isn't visible like it is in the still shots. It really looked sleek and seemed a little longer and lower than a 911. Very pretty.

    Interestingly, when I got my head twisted back to the front, I realized I was coming up on a black DB9. It was interesting to compare the two: both beautiful in black, the Cayman sportier and younger looking, the DB9 longer and less attention getting, unless you knew what you were looking at.

    They'd look nice next to each other in the garage...

    I think the Crossfire has a different proportion, more hood, smaller cabin look. I am going to drive the SRT6 version in a couple of weeks, be interesting to compare with the Cayman which I hope to test drive today.

    Well diagnosed! Nick also said he had a problem telling the 997 apart from the New Beetle.

    Crossfire? Cayman? Funny, I've actually seen them side. ...dealer had a demo Cayman parked right next to a customers Crossfire. The Crossfire actually looks more 911-ish with the same type of rounded sloped hind quarters and nothing to break it up. The Caymans hips actually make it look totally different IMO.

    Today, I saw the first cayman on the road... the others were at the dealer.
    It was black on black.. and seriously speeding. the winglet was up, and it looked awesome... because of heavy traffic, I managed to stay behind it for about 2 minutes, and then it was gone... but the arches... the arches! So beautifull, they haunt me in my dreams!

    saw my first one on the road today also, looks smaller than i thought it would. For some reason it looks smaller than the boxster. It didn't have the 19" rims maybe thats why.
