    special GT3

Found this rather special GT3 on a dutch carspotting website. I wonder what kind of rear wing this is. Imo it looks much better than the original wing, but I cannot believe it generates the same downforce or has the same aerodynamic charecteristics as the original. Anyone know what type or make it is?

    I don't think this car is a GT3.

    Re: special GT3

I'd like to know where to get a rear spoiler like that as well. IMO, it looks much better than the GT3 one and is probably one of the best looking ones I've seen.

Well, it even has got GT3 dials...

    Re: special GT3

Yep,,and GT3 front lid and door entry kick plate ,, you would have to be one sad bunny to go that far with mod's...

    Alcantra steering wheel too . . .

My first thought was that it was a C2 with Sport Wheels and the Aerokit with a fake GT3 badge, but the ctr rear exhaust and all the other details already mentioned lead me to believe that it is the real thing.

Having said that, I don't like it. Those are my least favorite 911 wheels, and the GT3 wheels are my favorite, so that remains a choice I'll never understand. Plus, the GT3 rear spoiler has grown on me. The only thing I'd replace it with is the GT3 RS spoiler which is lighter and creates more downforce.

    Plus I hate black wheels.

    But, to each his/her own!

    Re: special GT3

Very stealth. I like it. Did you guys notice the cross stitch pattern on the seats?

Different wheels, Different front bumper, rear spoiler.
But You are right about dials; I missed that.
Maybe A real GT3 with changed body parts including the front end grills.

    I like it a lot!

I've never been a friend of the GT3's "ass antlers".

    Re: special GT3

Everything to me let me know that it is a GT3 but i'm not convinced. Today copy are really easy to make. I know a guy around here did a perfect copy of Audi RS4. Look everything the same from outside but engine part betrayed the car and the guy.

    Re: special GT3

You have to be a strange fella to remove stock GT3 wheels and run those skinnier and ugly wheels, add cross stitching to the seats, replace the rear spoiler with a ducktail and screw up handling balance.

    Re: special GT3

Looks like he took a hacksaw to the upper part of the stock wing and left the base!

It's a GT3 imo...no PCM in front center console either, they would've had to have ripped out the PCM and replaced. Bet that's a $5K job alone!
I think all regular non-GT3 997's are stuck with PCM except Japan + Hong Kong markets, or am I wrong on that?

Tailpipes are the real deal... owner just has eccentric taste in wheels & wing. The partial-amputee rear wing doesn't look bad at all, although it reminds me of a bizarre cross btwn '73 911 RS ducktail and 996 Twin Turbo wing. But as frayed said, if it messes up the car's dynamics at speed I wouldn't do it either.

    That's the clincher right there.

I like the stitching, though I don't think I'd spend money to have it done.

If he goes on fast tracks, he may find some interesting vehicle dynamics at high speed. Top speed at my local track coming off the banking is 150+ MPH; I sure wouldn't mess with the aero. Probably fine around town though.

    +1 on the wing.

Top speed at my local track (Nordschleife) for Walter in a GT3 is about 283 kph. Top speed on autobahns is 310 kph. Why mess with safety and downforce at speed?

    Here's the interior...

Photoshopped to open up the shadows.

They asked the owner if it was a GT3. He said it was and that there had been made some adjustments for the track (different spoiler, interior, race calipers).

    Makes little sense...

    Re: special GT3

    Its a gt3!!!!

Watch this video !!, and listen to the sound !

    Re: special GT3

It sounds very nice and I love the wing.

Even at much lower speeds, this wing modification is dangerous (I won't use the word "STUPID" since I don't want to offend the owner ) and even counter-effective.
At speeds over 120-130 kph, the GT3 wing already has a substantial influence on aerodynamics.

I can't see how the owner could have "compensated" the loss of rear downforce with the front spoiler/lip, I highly doubt it. My assumption is: this GT3 is a "showcar" only, nobody would seriously modify a GT3 this way, not a experienced track driver anyway.
