Lots of photo's of the 124 spider here http://www.autospies.com/news/LAAS2015-Fiat-Debuts-The-All-New-124-Spider-Talks-Legacy-And-Revival-Of-FIAT-In-North-America-86923/

The styling looks fairly awkward from the side and Fiat's designers look to have pulled off a remarkable feat by making it look like the body is shared with the outgoing MX5 as opposed to the new one yes It looks as if it may benefit from being lowered and having larger wheels.

    Re: new MX-5

I'm getting my MX5 generations mixed up. It is the second generation MX5 that Fiat seem to have based their styling on so hats off to them for managing to go retro with both the 124 and MX5 at the same time smiley

    Re: new MX-5

There are a couple of brand  new MX-5 s ( a regular and a sport version )  always parked on the street in front of their owners' homes near my house so I pass them constantly by foot.

They are ,  to me , the rare modern sports car that looks MUCH better in online images  (" sportier/sleeker/ more modern  " ) than in the flesh (" anonymously stubby/chubby " )

    Re: new MX-5

The Fiat looks awkward and ugly, how could Italian designers pull off such a crap? Smiley Compared to this, the MX-5 is a beauty.

It's beginning to seem like I will be Fiat's only customer for this roadster. I expect pricing to be very reasonable.

Sometimes I wonder how risky those car manufacturers are. Producing a car ugly like this and aiming on a very tiny market really requires some huge balls. Epic management error IMO

... and Mazda has already shown that the market for the model doesn't have to be so tiny if only FIAT hadn't made its version of it so ugly.
But FIAT has form when it comes to occasionally doing this sort of thing:

Used pre 2009 Boxster  in the $25-30 K price range ALL have the ticking time bomb known as " IMS bearing issue " . If it detonates ( no real earning ) ,  the engine is toast in seconds .... the replacement motor is almost as much as the car's value ..that is why you see so many Boxsters being parted out !

The IMS bearing issue affects up to 10 % of the 2001 -2005 986 and non Metzger 996  and 3% of these before and after . Can occur with low miles , medium miles,  high miles !

Still want one ? Same goes for 2005-2008 non Metzger 997s and all 2006-2008 Caymans .

there are companies which can fit IMS shaft/bearing which don't detonate though

not true ..if you read their fine print they do not warrant a guarantee..only a suggestion that this bearing should be looked at as a wear and tear item that should be regularly replaced from here on out ! Who wants to do a 2-3 thousand dollar repair every 25-50k miles on cars that sell for 7-30K used ?

this is the main reason that 7-17 yr old 986/987/996/997before 2009 are selling at econocar prices or just being parted out if over 15-17 yrs old  while 993s and before are appreciating .

These models are acting in the  market like forlon scrap heap 944s ( ignore the cherry ones where obsessed owners have spent $50K on a $5K car )

open any issue of a Porsche magazine like Excellence , etc..every other ad frommfront to back pages is by someone selling an IMS product

Abs. true a Porsche dealer told me that he only sold these models to prof. reseller without any warranty.

This is what I meant. Fiat is master in bad taste! It is good to be risky, but sometimes it goes just to far.

Latest Jeep Cherokee is a further development of that Multipla (dolphin look) - lets call it hideously ugly:

A wide-angle shot can make any car look ugly.  Smiley
The new Cherokee doesn't look that bad in the flesh, particularly by SUV standards. There are now so many models vying for a share of the market that many manufacturers seem to be going for more offbeat styling elements to make their products stand out in the crowd.
