    Small Footwell

Anyone else have a problem with the size of the 997 footwell? I wear a size 12 shoe and find it is difficlt to keep my feet from getting tangled while driving

    Re: Small Footwell

i wear a size 11 and i'm fine maybe it's the angle you rest your foot? lol i dunno

    Re: Small Footwell

There might be a bit more room in the footwell of RHD cars due to pedal locations being away from the left of the wheel well. I'd imaginge that having the clutch close the the wheel well in LHD cars could be a problem if you have big feet. I have size 11s and have no problems in my RHD car but then I do have a Tiptronic box so I only need to use one foot

    Lose the Shoes!

I've had several sports cars over the years and have gotten into the habit of driving them without shoes (just socks). You can better feel the clutch, enguage it more precisely and it's more comfortable anyway. Just remove your shoes. Mine are loafers or loosely tied tennis shoes all the time so this is easy. Come to think about it everytime I drive I wear shoes that I can easily slip off and on. Try it, it's so much nicer way to drive.

yeah, it's "illegal" in some states. BUT, it's a stupid law (IMHO); I would think it ALSO should be illegal to drive with sandals and most women's shoes since they can get caught on the pedals alot easier than a socked foot.

Shocking : When you quit your shoes, quit your socks, (as with a lady...)

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

I wear size 12 as well, and half the time I'm in my big honking Red Wing leather sh**-kicker work boots. And I have ZERO issues with the footwell, I seem to tap-dance around down there without any tangles, like I was born driving the car. Give it some time, you'll acclimate. I know that when I first bought my 993, that the pedals were tightly bunched together, and I was constantly clipping the brake pedal with my shoe while depressing the clutch. After a few thousand miles, the problem just went away as I subconsciously learned the territory down there.

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

I have size 13's and had no trouble on a test drive. My other cars are Golf VR6 and MGB so maybe I am just used to small footwells. If it were an issue for me, I would seriously consider chopping off my toes, that would take me down about 3 shoe sizes.

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

    RD,

Try some driving shoes- I'm sure they will give you some extra room. I recommend Puma. They run small, so order a 1/2 size larger(in most cases). I wear a size 14 or 15 US. I already have several pair, so I'm ready when my car finally arrives.

Foot room is a concern for me too. It seems to me that the 997 has a bit more room than the 996.

good point, i totally forgot about LHD and RHD part

    Re: Small Footwell

That's interesting. I thought the passenger footwell of a RHD 997 was narrow (driver's side in left hand drive cars), see my post http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat...=true#Post86144

    I dunno about that suggestion....

    Tank of gas ..... $40.00

Good pair of driving shoes ..... $250.00

    Porsche Carrera S ..... $90,000.00

Snickers and giggles as all your buddies and all the gals at the office make jokes behind your back about being a speedracer wannabe F1 star ....

    PRICELESS

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

Get those heavy socks with leather soles that the astronauts use when dressing casual in orbit.

Then when anybody asks you can say you wanted to be an astronaut but bought the car insted.

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

    lol...69bossnine you're too much brother!

I suggested those shoes because they even help make my feet smaller, compared to most other shoes - I need all the help I can get ( and they're comfortable and cheap too). Of course, I would put on my other shoes before going to the office. And take off my Schumi cap, jacket, gloves too (kidding).

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

Shoes definitely make a difference. Even with my size nines, in a RHD car, I ahve one one pair (of otherwise normal shoes) that catch on the clutch pedal as I lift it off the footrest. Got used to it, but have a favourite pair of driving shoes!

    Re: Lose the Shoes!

I have size 12 feet and posted about this a while ago. I was under the impression that the LHD models had more foot room. To rest my left foot on the footrest, I have to be careful not to catch the clutch. I wouldn't say it's a big problem, it's just much tighter down there than any other car I've driven for a while.
