This video solves the concerns we have with the future of soundless electric vehicles! All that will really be needed is a microphone in a tin can, coupled to external speakers; and each individual driver can make his own engine noises as he drives around town. Problem solved.
Awesome.

Not necessarily as far fetched as you may think. Nissan & Toyota already offer a small external speaker option that pumps out artificial engine noise.

We push forward to advance technology and find ways to reduce pollution - tire slap, noise, and emissions, only to turn around and ADD artificial noise pollution back into the equation.

Toyota: sounds like a squeaky belt along with a cross between a self-destructing tire and a space craft with a weather siren onboard!
Leaf: sounds a bit like the 60's vintage bat mobile...
Crazy. But at least they did consultations and analysis to choose sounds that work best for our communities. Not like the arbitrary and obnoxious sounds of the internal combustion engine. Thankfully, that era will soon be past.
Personally I prefer the Dominos Pizza scooter:

Or, even better, just hook this sound up and drive around town. You'd be the envy of the city:
What a beautiful future we have ahead of us.
