Welcome to Rennteam. I live in Canada and I can only tell you the costs over here at my dealership. A typical oil change will run around $250 CAD and the first somewhat major maintenance appt at 30,000 km was around $1,000 CAD. It's by no means cheap to maintain a Porsche. Is it worth it? For me it is because of the enjoyment I get when driving my car. Plus oil changes are recommended around once/year or 20,000 km I believe so it's not too bad.

If you want to save a couple bucks and change your own oil and filter (I like to do it every 7,500 mi) the oil pan drain plug and oil filter are reasonably accessable. I drive up on 2X12s and slide under the rear, reach up and there it all is. Figure 9qts of Mobil 1 from Wally-World at $5 per and $15-20 for oil filter, crush washer and "O" ring on line and about 45 minutes including clean up and you've saved yourself about $200 if not more. My dealer is looking for $300-325 for a simple oil change.

Kind of an old thread here, but looking for some advise. I've got an '06 C4S and the dealer in New Orleans is closed - they gave the franchise back to Porsche. So I scheduled a major srvc due to age of car - 4yrs(not miles - only 19000) at the next closet dealer 1.5hrs away at the same time we were to be next door picking up a new BMW. The dealer said they would call w/ an estimate before they did anything. I told them specifically not to do the oil change as they were going to chrg 350.00 for that alone and I told them I could get that done for much less or do it myself. Needless to say they did not call w/ an estimate for anything and did the oil change for 350 and on top of that they said the car did not need any of the work the manual suggests for a major as I only had 19,000 miles.
So, is this a little steep for an oil change AND whose right, the manual or the shop re: no major needed? The manual specifically states that certain work is to be done by miles OR time???
Tks for the input - hate to get screwed if something does go wrong.
