    Waiting Lists Top 10

Top 10 Cars With Long Waiting Lists:

    1. Aston Martin DBS: 28 months ($265,000 estimated)
    2. Morgan Aeromax: 2 Years - sold out ($188,000)
    3. Ferrari F430 Scuderia: 2 years ($201,213)
    4. Ferrari F599 GTB Fiorano: 2 years ($264,034)
    5. Lamborghini Murcielago LP640: 18 months ($311,100)
    6. Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG: 18 months ($195,000)
    7. Bentley Brooklands Coupe: 18 months ($340,000)
    8. Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe: 15 months ($407,000)
    9. Koenigsegg CCX: More than a year ($550,000)
    10. Tesla Roadster: One year ($98,000

Luckily demand on such cars in our region is diminishigly low and therefore we manage to squeeze in
Actually when placing my order for the 997 GT2 the respnse was that Porsche were happy to acommodate my request and find a slot for me as they want to expose their high-end cars in these low penetration markets....

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

unless the dollar stops falling, the list is even going to get more longer as manufacturers are slowly diverting allocations to more profitable markets.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

What market is this? In the US both the 430 coupe & Spider have lists years long but neither one is listed. Thanks for the info.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Waitlists are fairly meaningless marketing claims all mfrs use to create aura of scarcity/desirability among clueless potential buyers/casual observers....

US mkt prob buys 50-60% of world's $150K+ cars....and, in US, deposits on cars are trivial (perhaps $1-2K and fully refundable; most repeat custs at F/MB/P dealers actually are asked for no cash deposit and are simply offered early slots on any car of interest)...so waitlists/deposits mean nothing in major US mkts...

That said, given the slowing economy in the finance industry-dpdt NYC and London mkts (and their purchs of sports/GT cars in various wkend home mkts like FL, MC, CA, etc)....and falling home prices in CA....suspect global "waitlists" for $150K+ cars are more phantom-like than usual....

Many emerging mkts still struggle w/basic roads, high-octane fuel, and personal security issues vs driving high-end cars in their own regions....so many Chindia/Russ/Mideast buyers obtain and keep their more interesting cars in the Lond/Swiss/MC/LA/FL mkts where they have wkend houses.....so difficult for mfrs to easily reallocate such cars to arbitrage FX diffces

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Jeez! Imagine what you have to $pend on keeping yourself entertained while waiting TWO years for a Ferrari. You know..., to make the wait tolerable.

If I were waiting for my F-car like that, I'd probably just go out and buy a few used Porsches and beat the sh*t outta them just for fun while waiting for my "real car." Would drive them to the salvage yard when the F arrived.

    (joking)

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

i totally agree to WBH, don't know where these waiting lists come from.

I bought seven new Ferraris and never waited more than six months, my last one, a maranello, were delivered in some 4 months. Whereas you could read, that you have to wait 2 years for a 12 cylinder...

i ordered my 997TT at the end of march and it was produced at the last week of june and i could pick it up at the beginnig of july at the factory. From a prosche dealer i've never ordered a car before.

Come on, nobody will wait 18 months for a merc....

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

    LOL...so true.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Wait list all depends on the market, there are unsold 997 TT all over the US but for the rest of the world there aren't enough cars to go around.

Almost everywhere without exception there will be a wait list for Ferraris, especially the V8 ones. If one is a repeat Ferrari customer then he/she may bypass the wit list all together, but for a brand new customer trying to get one at list price, good luck waiting less than 18 months.

With the very weak dollar, car makers are making less and less selling to the US market, it may have been one of the biggest market before but with cars lying left and right unsold in dealerships, it only make sense to cut back on US allocation and divert them to other emerging market like China and Russia where the newly rich snap them up like there is no tomorrow.

US is the only market in the world where car makers oversupply, everywhere else are undersupplied.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

And for NY Metro & other areas in the US if you're a "Brand New customer" forget about getting a new 8 cyl car
altogether you can't even get on the waitlist. For the 360 my dealer had a 3 year wait for new customers, for the 430 they wont even take a deposit from a new customer, 430's are only for "existing customers". And even existing customers have waited 2, 3 or even 4 years. Know a few guys that bought 360's in 2003, 2004 that still haven't received their 430's. It's crazy. Mint used 430's are still going for way over list, the Spyder is still selling for $50k - $75k + over sticker. The wait is only hard for your first car, once you have one than waiting for the next car/ model is not hard at all, matter of fact it's a lot of fun!

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

try to get an Audi R8 at MSRP, if you're not on the list

Actually nowadays they require you to buy 2 cars at a premium to "qualify" to get on the list... Shame on them... I will not participate in such a scam...

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Ferrari dealerships treat new customers the same way in Germany. I tried (at an early date) to get a allocation for a 430spider but never had a F-car before. They tried to persuade me to buy a used 550 (prewowned by a well known new economy scam artist) first - to "qualify" for the 430 - no thanks!
@haudimal: so how did you buy your first (new) ferrari then??

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

What do you mean : "how"? I went to the dealer and said i wanna have a ferrari

    OK, earnestly:

My "Ferrari era" started, when i was around 25 years. I bought all my cars from official german ferrari dealers, never paid more then msrp, never made a downpayment and never bought a used or stock car.

The first one is quite a while ago, so

348ts - poor, poor car, burned out in garage
348tb - still poor, except no water dropping in;-)
    348GTB - a little bit better
355 - first really good one, but caught fire while an official track day in mugello
456 - great engine, forget the rest
    Maranello - very good
Maranello - with fiorano package and kat-bypass, very, very good one, but stolen in milan;-(

I only can speak for the german market, i don't know the US market at all.

As i mentioned above, i've waited for the 997TT around 3 month and got an 5% off msrp;-) The only cutback was, not to take as many exclusive parts for the interior, so no colored stitching....

And i agree, some customer doesn't care about waiting, because they will drive their actual car till the new one arrives.

So my experience in buying a new car as a first time customer is different, i think the dealers always thought: hey that's a crazy guy and when i treat him well, i will buy him more cars in the future - the ferrari one were right
But i concede, this was before the rich chinese and russian cashguys appeared;-))

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

It's a long time ago when you buy your first Ferrari, and with 7 Ferrari's from the same dealership I bet you will probably be first or near the top of their list when any new Ferrari comes out. You are one of the lucky ones.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Keep in mind that in the early 1990's most of the Ferrari dealerships were in financial trouble because they could not sell cars. Ferrari's were that bad. The 355 began to get Ferrari noticed. The floodgates opened with the 360. Should about everyone wanted one.

Today, I agree that unless you are a past regular customer, you have little to no chance to buy a 430 at MSRP. As long as as Ferrari continues to limit production, the situation will not change. Honestly, I don't believe it is fair. However, I do not see any viable alternative to what is in place now.

    Re: Waiting Lists Top 10

Interesting to see if GT2 demand holds up. My local dealer took a GBP15k deopsit on the only one he will get when the brochure leaked in June and has turned away everyone since. It will be interesting to see if Porsche keep their word and restrict UK supply next year and what effect it will have on residuals. UK Ferrari residuals vary widely...
