    Koenigsegg new record Nordschleife

    Koenigseggs first lap at the Nürburgring.

    Koenigsegg had an outing at the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring for the first time the other week.

    Without any prior setup or adjustment the Koenigsegg CCR managed to lap the ring in 7.39 Seconds.


    This lap time show tremendous potential and is already class leading. The Koenigsegg Team will be back on the Ring within short for further trials.

    The Koenigsegg CCR features customer adjustable, shock absorbers, wheel geometries, anti roll bars, ride-height and tire pressure. These adjustable features will be now be utilized, and an customer official "Ring" setting will be created. Hopefully, theses settings will help the CCR to become the first road legal, series-produced Super car under 7.30 Seconds.

    Words from the founder:

    -Last weeks laps around the Ring show that the Koenigsegg CCR is not only a world beater in a straight line, but also around the most challenging circuit in the world. I cannot wait to have another go.

    "new record" ??? "already class leading" ??? the Carrera Gt's time was 7.32 without a special ring-setting.

    i think those results are exciting coming from a rather new car manufacturer with only a fraction of experience of what porsche already has, it's not too shabby!

    Yeah, but it's far from the record which is 7:19 for the Radical SR3 Turbo. Donkervoot had a VERY fast time too - don't remember it...

    Also, I thought the CGT's time was 7:28 (which would ceretainly qualify as a production street-legal car in every market under 7:30).

    ... and very far away from the Bellof Porsche 956 Record of 6.25 min in 1983. The CGT's 7.32 min is the "Sport-Auto-Supertest Time" Best of the "real" cars, not Track-Day-Tools.

    The CGT did indeed do a 7:28, by Walter Rohrl.

    Walter Rohrl is a Porsche employee. I would be a little suspect. Horst von Saurma is "indepent."

    I'd just avg the two to get 7:30
    I think the point of the article was that with the Kon's adjustable settings and first impression time of 7:39, I has a chance to shave off like 10-15 seconds. Whether it can beat the CGT, is yet to be seen. Also, I'd love to know who the driver was.

    One of the bad things about the Ring times that are so notorious are the settings that seem to be uncontrolled. Some of these cars run on slicks, some don't. The settings of the day are also important. These are just some things that I think about when people brag about ring times.

    Also, the ring time isn't the definitive benchmark of car performance. Surely German cars pretty much dominate all the top ring times, but perhaps this is because Italian cars don't like testing in the ring, but rather in Fiorna...

    Yes indeed, when Horst von Saurma did his Nordschleife-laps on the CGT some spots of the track were still wet!
    In his conclusion he stated that under the right circumstances his measured time of 7.32min is very likely to be beaten.
    But still kudos to Koenigsegg for their fast time right out of the box!
