    Lojack w/ Early Warning option anyone?

    I'm going to have Lojack installed when my car arrives.

    I was also thinking about the Early Warning option as an upgrade which notifies you via page/phone call/email to let you know your car is being violated. Sounds like a good thing to have for the extra $280.

    I've never had Lojack. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on either of these? Does it work, or is it just additional ballast to weigh my baby down?

    When I bought my first Porsche I considered LoJack. I called the San Diego police and spoke with the person in charge of auto theft. He told me that Porsche's are very far DOWN the list for auto theft. The are impractical to thieves. The only risk is some kid trying to take it for a joy ride. I walked away with the distinct impression that he thought it was a waste money. Also, Porsche's security system is excellent.

    As a result, I never had LoJack installed and I am $600.00 richer.

    Quite the opposite. If someone steals my Porsche I want to make it very easy for them to keep it until they quickly destroy it, and hopefully, themselves. I NEVER want to see it again. I'll take the hit from the insurance money and call it even. Can you imagine the lingering maintenance and repair headaches that might result from some icehole joyriding the car? How about the smell?

    Interesting info.
    The angle my salesman approached me with is that since I live in San Diego County my car is more at risk since I'm close to the border. Made sense to me at the time.

    Ask them how they install it. I also have the Lojack option but never put it in for fear that they will start drilling holes in my new baby.

    As a matter fact, I did just that. They used a needle to "chip" him.

    Married dudes get "chipped" all the time...esp when the wife hires a pvt investigator to trail them for evidence.....
