Cooling Fans

I came home from the office this afternoon, about 15 miles, 15 minutes drive, and pulled into the garage, shut the car off, shut the garage door and went inside. About 15 minutres later I went back out in the garage to get something and heard the cooling fan running, the one that is attached to the engine compartment lid in the back. It is about 85 degrees out today, and I have a nice big 3-car garage that was no hotter than 80 degrees inside.

Would this be normal for the fan to come back on after shutting the car off? I have not RTFM yet, because I thought this might be quicker. I did not think it was that hot out, and the oil and water temps were normal.

Sounds like that could drain the battery in no time; I would check it out at the dealer.

its normal for the fan to keep running until engine is cooled down.

As long as the fan cuts off after cooling the car I don't see what the prøblem is.

Thanks, I wasn't sure, I thought it could happen....just didn't think it was so hot outside yet.

What I do? I open the engine lid, and push the latch down with a screwdriver to turn off light (this is what dealer service does when servicing engine). I tie a brightly-colored ribbon to the latch to remind me not to drop the deck onto and damage the _closed_ latch

This way engine cools faster and the smells go away sooner.

Same here. Particularly on a hot day with some spirited driving. Nothing to be concerned about as they always stop after a few minutes.
