Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

I just love 911s next to each other with 30 year age differences and yet full similarities...

Thanks for posting, I'd love a Speedster in this creme white they offer!

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

Thanks for posting the pics, nice comparison photos but I prefer the old one. But then again I might be biased because I use to own one.

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

Thanks for the comparison pics Easy. Great pictures as always! LHD car in UK?
I must admit though that the 997.2 speedster is really one of few 911s I don't like. The colour could be one reason and in a more subtle colour it would be better. The old brother is great Smiley

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

Great shots, thanks. What did you find about the 997 Speedster presence? It really looks much beeter from outside than a regular 997.2? Would like to know your opinion, now that you aw real life this special edition model.

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

It certainly has presence but the colour really spoilt it for me. I also don't like the hump - it's not sleek - just a bit 'deformed' to my eyes.

I think a more suitable colour would help - black, carrara white, silver ... something more suitable.

The car is eye-catching enough that it doesn't need a bling colour.

Did you guys notice - the second 's' in the rear logo of the 911 3.2 Speedster is a different style from the second 's' in the rear logo of the 997 Speedster.

I think the old one with the flat face on the top has more class, whereas this one just looks like someone made it out of icing sugar squeezed out onto the top of a cake.  Smiley

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

I agree - the flat typeface looks better - the rounded curvature of the lettering spoils it - but I think it is also made worse by the spotlighting in the OPC.

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

The speedster is not really my cup of tea, but the pictures are great and they look very very classy side by side.

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

     Great comparo ! Thanks Easy.

But how did the car ''feel'' in real ? Does it look awkard or was it nice and special ? I like the blue/black combos on that car.

I'm glad you guys found the photos interesting

@Gnil: to me, it just didn't feel 'desirable'. It does capture the attention - it has presence and the colour is impossible to ignore - but really, it did nothing for me. If I like a car, I usually feel something like: I wish I could have it NOW!

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

    Thanks for the pictures!

These models do nothing for me either. The Speedster is just a send-up of a 50s idea without any cosmetic or driving benefit.

For me there are only 3 911s to choose from depending on budget and driving needs:

    1. Carrera S Coupe (2WD of course)
    2. GT3 RS
    3. Turbo S

That must have been a nice car to own - you didn't decide to keep it? They're pretty rare ... Smiley

Unfortunately when you are young you do not think of things like that.Smiley

Re: 997 + 911 3.2 Speedsters on show: OPC Canary Wharf

Well, the 2 Speedsters have gone now - they were only on display for a few days ...
