pgouveia:Hi guys
Anyone looking for the 718 spyder or GTS?
On the used market difference cost was low, and I'm more temped on the sypder!
Opinions?
Cheers
Again, I would test drive both ... spyder has Motorsport / GT3 parts (suspension etc.) with a "special" roof mechanism, GTS is, in my opinion, the even more driveable daily car ... however, the exterior of the spyder is something special anyway, as the GTS looks to same as other boxster variants (if one deletes the different exhausts on the various models) ... so, you have not yet made up your mind since you asked a similar question some time ago already ...

If you will never track the car, then either is fine. For the track, you get GT3 RS brakes and GT suspension (including adjustable swaybars and coilover heights for corner balancing) on the Spyder (and a little more power and higher redline).

thanks guys for all the inputs
beacause I dont have a finance that allows to have more than one toy, when I want a new experience, I need to sale....but this is a decision very hard to make asecially when the 964 was my the 1st Porsche!
The 964 was the car for the weekends, nevertheless the distance or the weather, but it becames very unconfortable on long distances, so I decide to let go the 964.
I also have been maturat the idea to move from classic cars to modern cars with a bit of old school specs...RWD, MT and NA.
The final list is almost decide
We have a lot of sun, so a CAB is preferable
MT, RWD & NA
2+2 is not mandatory, thast why the Boxster feats vey well
I want something special, so GTS 4.0 or Spyder will be
In Portugal we dont have much flexibility to test both models, and this is a concern.
Maybe the Spyder could a bit unconfortable because I have a lot of euro road trips in my list...I don't really Know and all the videosthat I already saw don't say anything about that.
Maybe RT menbers from Spain could arrange a TD on both models
More news soon

...that is the reason why l am (sometimes) looking into a 991/992 base carrera to replace my 981 cayman...the boxster/caymans are excellent toys and daily drivers but not really that excellent for long distance driving ...
...the engine sound is great just behind you, but can be tiring on long trips...the cabin is like a well fitted tight sports shirt on the track, but the „overall space“ in a 911 feels more comfortable ... don‘t get me wrong, both 981 / 718 and 991 / 992 are excellent cars and l am comparing on very high levels ... from the models you mention, l think the 718 spyder is most outstanding overall As a summary: with my 981 l would have a nice meal or drink and chill out in the evening after enjoying a longer distance drive (> 500 km), with a 991 or 992 l might think about driving back immediately... just my humble thoughts...
I think the 981/718 is well-suited for long-distance trips - especially if equipped with PASM and the excellent sport seats. I did multiple trips (1000+km) in my car and always was amazed at its ability to cover long distances. I also consciously specced the 19” wheels - this also helped.
Only thing that can become annoying is road/engine noise after a couple of hours. I assume the 911 is more muted and therefore even better.
KMM:Yep. The noise is the main problem on longer trips. Specifically in a Cayman GTS (2016, 6 cylinders), there is an exhaust droning sound in 7th gear that makes it unusable below 90MPH. It is a noise box by comparison to a 911.
Apart from the points raised: currently, 6 years of happy ownership...just saying...
In my case, 20 years of continuous, happy 986, 987, 981 ownership. Currently, I have both an RS60 for the summer and a Cayman GTS for the winter. I've always preferred the mid-engine models, but that does not make them any less noisy
BTW, I keep the RS60 (16K miles only) for its excellent spec, a sport exhaust that sounds natural (and to my ear, more musical that the newer one in the GTS with its fake pops and its droning), and of course the old style hydraulic steering.

Same with my wife's 987 Boxster Porsche Design Edition 2 - we call it "the fixed asset" ...
We own our spyder 981 already 5 years and did several trips to Italy, France, Germany with it.
For our longdistance trips on the motorway we had us made special earplugs with a mecanic filter in it. It works amazingly well, the noise of tyres and wind are filtered away and the engine sound , music ( somewhat louder ) , even talking to the paasenger are let trough.
We only use them when driving with the top closed, when open we don't have the noise problem.
This is one fabulous car to take on a summer road trip (Corse was just fabulous.... when a local was driving on the small mountainroads too long in front of us... just open the sportexhaust and they let us pass by, thumbs up :-) )

Yep, spyder all the way. You wont regret it. And should you look at a spyder from your GTS, you will regret it.... brakes fantastic, suspension actually quite liveable, handling just better with GT3 components, and it looks special. I have had grown men in RS6’s flash their lights and give two thumbs up for the GT4... just looks special

Funny...when driving my Performante, I mainly get thumbs up from cyclists, bikers, kids and and...hold your breath...Tesla drivers.
A 991.2 GT3 RS driver showed thumbs down with a grin on his face when I passed him and his buddy in his M5 (they were parked on the side of the road, talking to each other.
I returned the favor by passing him again at 8500 rpm. Not sure he got his hearing back but he didn't look happy in the rear view mirror.
My son had a blast.
