Re: Huracán Performante in "6.52 something" at the Ring?

They have no speed limit in Austria? All the cars you mention are virtually impossible to distinguish 0-120kph on a public road. I totally fail to see the point being the fastest has to do with a Porsche car not being fun anymore.

In Austria, there is a speed limit but not on the way to Austria... Smiley

The Autobahn isn't really that important, we do our group drives on country roads but that particular day the tunnel to Austria near Füssen was completely blocked (over an hour waiting time), so we took the Autobahn to a different location. In winter time, our choices are limited anyway because most passes are closed. Smiley

I was supposed to drive to Lech/Zuers last weekend with a huge "convoy" of cars (we had over 15 cars together), we were invited by a hotel director there who is a car nut as well but the weather kind of destroyed our plans. A few drove anyway but I stayed at home. It is no fun to drive the whole day in rain.  Smiley My wife was very sad because she wanted to ski there and we would have met for lunch but... Smiley

I think you are exaggerating a little bit. Does a 918 feel like mainstream? Or even a GT3 RS? I don't think so.

A 960 with 700 hp, 1600 kg weight and AWD would be an amazing product. Add a V8 Biturbo with a proper sound to it and this car would sell like crazy if it is priced around 250k EUR (base price) and has proper standard options.

It will happen, it just didn't make financially sense to let Lambo/Audi use a different platform.

Boxster...Cayman...911 Carrera...they kind of lost their charisma lately...at least to me. Don't forget however that we are a bunch of very spoiled sons of bitches here, so to the majority of the population in basically every country on this planet, even the base Boxster/Cayman/Carrera are probably total dream cars.

I remember when I was driving with my wife and some friends to Austria. I was in the R8, the friends were in a Aventador and in a Ferrari F12 (among other cars in the group which were much slower). At certain occasions, we were accelerating and I could keep up with the Aventador and the F12 on the Autobahn but not even close to being able to pass them. No chance. At some point, I told my wife that the F12 successor, the 812 Superfast with 800 hp would be nice and she looked at me and told me that I am way too spoiled. She was right, most of the other cars in the group could not even follow (among them some 911 Carrera S and a tuned M4) and on the Autobahn, even when I'm driving alone, I am always the fastest. People keep it slow for whatever reasons.

Long story short: We are talking and bragging and very high levels here, mainstream and all but most people I know would only dream of a Porsche, no matter if 911 or "only" Cayenne.

I´m not talking about specific model, I´m talking about the brand as a all.

And you may be right, I have a friend with a 2007 manual 997.1 4S Cabrio ( he bought because it´s cool to have a Porsche not because he likes sports cars) and for him, the 997 it´s like an Aventador for me, he speakes about his VW on steroids Smiley like if it was an exotic and very special car, I just laughted inside and don´t even argue with him, let him be happy, this is what really counts Smiley I like my 911 too, it was bought brand new and made to my specific taste, but it doesn´t blow my mind the way a Lambo or Ferrari do.

Many people lower the tire pressure when drag racing. This is not really clever using street tires though because they have a stiffer sidewall. Not really an advantage, trust me.

Another possibility is that he had the wrong setting for the right tire pressure or a sensor was defective.

No cheating here...the Huracan LP610-4 is fast as hell from standstill. So is the R8 V10 Plus. Only the new 991.2 Turbo S is 0.1 seconds or so faster but the Quartermile is usually in the 10.5 to 10.8 range, depending if drivers are using launch control, pavement/tire temperature, air temp/pressure, engine power and so on.

See here... (sorry, new 991.2 Turbo S isn't there yet):

The McLaren 650S is a beast over 200 kph...but on the track, it is basically at par with the Huracan. The 720S will change that though but I'm not sure it will beat the Huracan Performante if Lamborghini didn't lie about their active aerodynamics.

Don't be too excited about the 720S only...there will be more McLaren models and even some cheaper ones which may not be as slow as their hp figure indicates (similar to 570S).

Everyone seems to be excited because McLaren is the first in this class to pass the 700 hp mark but there is more to come from McLaren and I am pretty sure that other manufacturers won't stay behind.

The 488 Speciale is also rumored to get 700 hp flat.

still cannot believe that such a "tweek" can safe you +20 second over a measured 700 hp 488 on nbr - but if it does - well done !

I never heard of a Performante Spyder but I wouldn't be surprised if Lamborghini would make one.

They could try to milk the end of the V10 with as many special editions as possible.

Not the only tweak. V10 n/a engine (throttle response is unique, even over the excellent 488 setup), faster gearbox (the Huracan gearbox is already superfast), new Trofeo R tires (hopefully available for ordinary customers as well Smiley)...

I just hope that Sport Auto is not testing a pre-production car (like they did with the AMG GT R, a car my Mercedes sales guy told me today won't go to customers before December 2017 or January 2018).

One would question the aerodynamic efficiency of the ALA with a spyder variant as this would most definitely negatively impact the performance of the rear wing's air ducting.  Without the backlight in place, the pressure gradient to the wing's air intakes is altered, and without the aerodynamic systems, a Performante Spyder is emasculated.  In may be recalled that the ALA system is said to add 0.2 to 0.4 g's of lateral acceleration to this particular model compared to the base Huracan.

On a serious note, I saw an Évoque convertible for the first time and it looked surprisingly good.  While I until now thought a convertible SUV does not make sense, I now believe it has potential. The ultimate lifestyle vehicle.

Dealer demos have not arrived as yet - so No , but cannot wait! I have ordered mine in orange with bronze wheels. I was always going orange even before the launch colour turned out to be that way but am tempted to put matt rather than the usual clear paint protection film on it having seen the launch car at Geneva.
