    Whats after the Carrera GT?

Hi everyone....since they stopped producing the Carrera GT...does anyone know what the replacement will be and when? Thanks...

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

Every ten years, at the minumium. So look out around 2015 for the concept, and 2-3 years later for the actual sales to start.

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

I think there will be earlier a successsor of the GT 1.

Most likely nothing. Porsche is in debt up to their eyeballs. They're focus is being a mass producer.

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

It is common knowledge that Porsche plans to power a VW Beetle with the CGT engine. Of course they will have to remove the back seat of the Beetle but they do that now with the GT3 and GT2. The engineering should be fairly simple.

I also understand they plan to call it Super Beetle but WW is holding out for T-Rex.

Just out of curiosity how is Porsche in debt? Can you provide some material for my reading, as I'm always interested in how the big names are doing in the world market. TIA.

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

Might be in debt but sure making a lot of profit from it!

FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Porsche AG will report on July 31 that its 2006-2007 earnings exceeded 3.0 bln eur, thanks to the rise in Volkswagen AG's share price, Spiegel reported, without naming sources.

The magazine said that two-thirds of the profit will come from transactions associated with the acquisition of a 30.4 pct VW stake.

Spiegel said Porsche paid 5.0 bln eur for the stakeholding, but that its value now exceeds 10.0 bln eur.

Actually the only debt is related to the most recent VW purchase. Development costs are not financed.

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

Now I'm not too sure of this but....
From what I remember reading, Porsche was obliged under German Law to make an offer for a total buyout once it had reached the 30% mark.
In order for Porsche to structure the buyout proposal it had to put together the finance, but as the buyout was rejected, there was no need for the finance (3 banks if I recall correctly)
As far as I can recall, the shares making up the 30.4% were bought with Porsche's own capital.

I'm afraid you are making a huge confusion.

Like all other car makers, Porsche's balance sheet is made up of 2 things: a) Industrial businesses (Sports car, engineering, consulting, ....) b) Financing business (dealers, customers and leasing) which is basically a bank (ie very little equity and the rest being debt)

If you just consider, Consolidated (ie Industrial + Financing) NET debt, YES, Porsche group is massively in debt. But you compare apples and carrots. Banks are by design hugely in debt, while an indsutrial business is usually in a NET cash situation.

Now if you consider the industrial businesses on a stand-alone basis, then Porsche is showing a huge NET CASH position of around Euro 4.0bn ....

May be what you are refering to is the financing that was put in place when the mandatory bid on VW was running. As the bid "failed" then Porsche didn't use the credit lines that were put in place by the banks .... so no additional debt...

Bottom line at the first glance, Porsche like any car maker seems to be in debt big time BUT a closer and more appropriate look is telling you that they are NOT in debt at all....

Re: Whats after the Carrera GT?

I completely agree - PAG's balance sheet looks very healthy
Of course we haven't seen the financials for the FY ending tomorrow yet but I guess, that even on a consolidated basis (industrial business + VW investment) the figures will be very impressive (probably net debt < 1X EBITDA)
