    How to disable non-PCM speed limit chime?

    My car has a chime at 120 km/h that is independent of the PCM speed limit function. That is, it chimes when all three PCM speed limit boxes are UNTICKED.

    I called the dealer and told me to bring it for service so they disable the chime. BTW, it sounds EXACTLY the same as the seat belt chime, and becomes louder the more I increase my speed.

    Is there a way to disable this without going to the dealer?

    First of all mabbrook on your new car, pics please.
    I am afraid that the dealer is the only one who could disable the 120 speed limit chime.

    I thought that was something that was on all cars in the UAE, and government controlled. Maybe I am wrong though.

    The dealer here was very apologetic that mine hadn't been disabled during the pre-delivery prep ............took them 60 seconds. Both our others cars landcruiser & 530i simply sqwark for 10 seconds at over 120 km then surrender

    in the US version of the car, there's one via the OBS that you can enable/disable (that little screen below the tach)

    They need to connect it upto a snazy looking tablet computer and alter some settings in your car. That's the only way!

    Use the stalk. I purposely set mine for 90mph.

    Oxonian, the dealer removed it in less than 5 minutes thru the porsche computer, they simply unticked that option..

    Thanks guys...I called SAMACO and they confirmed that it needs a Porsche computer to disable the chime...

    This is very silly to order in the first place...

    BTW, did SAMACO tell you that you must bring in your 997 for inspection at 1,000 km?

    SAMACO Jeddah (sales rep) insisted that I bring my car in after 1,000 km. When I told him that is not necessary, he told me in a gentle manner that SAMACO ARE the pros (and I'm the newbie). What do you guys think?

    Nabooda in Dubai says free service/check @ 2000-3000km i.e. near the end of run-in period..........main items are fluids check & opportunity to look at any minor "issues" that inevitably arise (rattle, squeak etc)
