    I'm most impressed with the Porsche 959:
    339 km/h in what is basically a twenty year old car!

    "Ahead of their time" would be an understatement...

    what about the koenigsegg CCR?
    Didn't it reach 388km/h on Nardo?

    yeah I think so... and I suupose those speeds would be a little higher if they'd been tested in a straight line cos when you running along one of those slightly oval tracks part of the centripetal force is "used" to push the car against the road (as if you had a little more downforce) thus making it slower.

    something is WAY wrong here...a 550 HP 6.0 getting outpaced by a BMW M5? with 500hp? whats goin on.....

    It's been my observsation that German Pherde are more starke than those of the Italians.

    In the magazines, some should be scanned and circle the net.
    One of the last ones (incl. Enzo, Murcie, SLR and CGT) were presented on TV both in English and German speaking countries.

    Why are you posting the M5's estimated speed? Is it confirmed or tested at Nardo by AMS?

    Right on. That's why Koenigsegg wants to run the car on a straight track to achieve 400 kph, e.g. on DC's proving ground in Papenburg, Germany!

    Which car are you referring to??
    The Bentley has AWD, automatic gearbox and probably a much higher drag coefficient. That should answer the question.

    If you compare it to the Murcielago (which has 580 hp) drag should play the important role.

    One shouldn't forget one thing. The M5 might be aerodynamically able to achieve similiar speeds, but it is not set up for this and shouldn't have the necessary downforce to stay safe at that level. BMW doesn't even raise the barrier to 280 (as on the M3 CSL) or 300 kph but remains at 250 kph. Same with MB's SL65...
