    Re: New Speedster per EVO

Hmm...I think the best thing about this car is that it looks better with it's roof on than the Boxster Spyder does. 1285220310965icon107.gif

    Re: New Speedster per EVO

...IMO...I really, really like the new 911 speedster.

    For me the ideal cabrio/convertible.

Blue is my favourite colour, the purblue is gorgeous!!!

    Re: New Speedster per EVO

For those of you who think that this car is overpriced, that may be so, but consider this. Due to its limited production, it will be one of the most desirable and collectible Porsches produced in years. My dealer confirmed with me today that only 90 will be coming stateside. Moreover, if you look at the prices of what a used '89 Speedster would cost you (of which there were nearly 800 sent to the US), those cars are selling in the $75K range. That's a 20 year old car that is commanding the same price that it did when it was sold new in 1989. Now factor in that only 90 2011 Speedsters will be in the US, and you are looking at a car that will be extremely hard to get and likely to depreciate less than any other 911 in Porsche's line-up.

Are you sure that you shouldn't have written "80" instead of "800"?  Smiley

    Re: New Speedster per EVO

A return of the amount paid after 20 years is not a profit in terms of inflation, dollar value, and opportunity cost.  All these considerations must be factored into any claim of profitability when purchasing a car as an "investment", low production numbers notwithstanding.

Looks like your figure was right. Smiley

Just found reference to two sets of VINs for '88 MY speedsters in a book I have, giving production figures of 818 (presumably North America, corresponding to your post) plus 1200+ (presumably Rest of World).

The total production figure of 2000+ is a lot higher than I thought it had been from memory. Smiley

Yeah, just take a look at the Sport Classic prices. Smiley

Limited production or not, if the price is too steep, you have to deal with depreciation. Smiley

Yeah but $250,000 in 20 years will be in the price range of an iphone considering inflation Smiley

    Re: New Speedster per EVO

There is rumour of an even pricier Super Speedster with Turbo engine.
