I nearly had the same thing happen to me in my 360...I was flying (@ 130mph) on the A40 nr Cheltenham going downhill and there was a pheasant sitting in the middle of the road.....It just stayed there....I anchored (foot thru the floor jobby) the brakes on and the f**king thing decided to take flight right at me....I was sure that it was going to be joining my wife in the passenger seat......It just missed me except for a solitary feather that hit the windshield....I'm sure it was the pheasant equivalent for Up Yours!! These birds really aren't the brightest bulbs in the chandeleer. Hope your car gets sorted soon...did it do any bodywork damage?
Meanwhile if it weren't for the vents, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the inside of the 987/997....it takes parts bin sharing to a whole new level!!

i have killed 4 pheasants so far in my SL55
first time i was driving at about 100mph and a flock of them just popped out from the side of the road, i slammed on brakes and reduced my speed to 62mph and then hit three on the end of the bonnet, they then bounced off and hit the windscreen one after another(all 3 of them!) watched them fly over my head as my roof was off. luckily nothing wrong with the car, not even a scratch 
and the 4th one, similar story, except it hit my right headlamp, also nothing wrong

JZ & Holiminator sorry to hear about the damages to your cars. I hoppe everything will get sorted soon.
If peasants are the only things that you have to worry about you are very lucky. In Saudi Arabia we have to deal with camels, they are very big and not very smart, which infortunatly is an excellent combination to make a lot of damage.

Yep. I cracked mine about a month ago. have not fixed it yet
Safelite Auto Glass just replaced windshield in my '95 Dodge
Ram pic em up truck and they did a fine job. I think I'll
let them do the 997s.

Damnnnnnn. I've never seen anything like that before. Bloody feather pluckings and everything! Did the bird wind up inside the car with you ? Was he still alive ? He musta been pissed.
You see Holminator, this is what I was referring to with carrying the pistol grip 12 gauge. If this guy had a 12 in his convertible he could have easily shot that pheasant dead before it ever got close to his Porsche.
ps: Sorry about your cracked windshield. Freakin frustrating as heck when that happens.

I had a cracked winshield on a 996. Porsche mechanic was changing the wiper blades and the arm slipped out of his grasp and managed to create a very substantial crack in the windshield. The dealer obviously replaced. I suspect that the mechanic was more embarrassed than the bird.

Hey, just got word today that the part number changed on the windshield (wonder why...stronger glass I hope) and that the part is being express shipped from Germany. Yippy!!!
