    What is PCM and PCM2? Which MY for each?

    What is the difference between PCM and PCM2.

    Do 2006 cars come with PCM2?

    You don't need to worry about the old PCM (predecessor of PCM2). All 997 independent of the MY come with PCM2

    2002 and before = PCM
    2003-4 = PCM2
    2005 = PCM2.1 (DVD)

    So it's just the software for the Porsche Communications Management unit in the center console? Therefore it would be dedicated to phones and internet connections?

    What da heck does the software do? Does it mess with (oops..., I mean "update") all the graphics that show up in the nav screen (i.e. AC and radio and stereo too)?

    No, the PCM2 is a complete new system of hardware and software. The PCM2 has a built in CD player, separate keypad for the telephone and can be upgraded with separate modules for navigation, telephone and tv (Cayenne only). The PCM had a built in tape deck, no keypad for the telephone and wasn't available without navigation.
