    I have a December build.

Hoping for September build with October Leipzig delivery (early Manual) 😀

You will be doing winter tire delivery Smiley

I thought that's only needed in November?  You think October delivery is not gonna happen?

End of October, beginning of November, there can be a first (small) amount of snow in parts of Germany.

I do not know how Porsche handles the winter tire situation, Nick certainly knows more about it.

Interesting! Apparently the demand for MT in the US is greater than Porsche anticipated (40%) and moved up the build dates. Maybe they will move up my PDK build date (July 21st) if they are moving up MT.SmileySmiley

What is the law in Germany regarding winter tires?

When I took delivery in Feb, it was I guess still consider winter and that's why I had winter tires on.

Here where I live, by law cars is suppose to be on winter tires from Oct 1st to March 31st.

There is no law in Germany forcing you to use winter tires during a certain period of time. Unlike in Austria for example, where it is the law to have winter tires from November 1st to April 15th the next year.

However: If you are driving on summer tires and you have an accident because there were "winter driving conditions" (not necessarily snow...), the fine is between 60 and 80 EUR. This small fine isn't the real problem though.

The real problem is...insurance. If you don't have winter tires and you get involved in an accident, things can get ugly for you, incl. the complete loss of a partial or total insurance coverage.

In a worst case scenario, if you brake on a snowy road, hit a wall and total your car, you may loose your insurance coverage completely. Or if you hurt someone under similar winter weather conditions, your insurance could refuse to pay for you and the third party and you end up with paying a lot of money.

So in general, it is not a bad idea to have winter tires from October to Easter period.

Driving in winterly road conditions on semi-slicks could be considered gross negligence with a huge legal impact in case something happens.

Very tricky law in Germany because there is no clear definition of the winter period...

Manual is a better choice only for manual fan or enthusiast. So, review (or drive impression article to be more precise) from EVO is pointless.

Manual fans will only choose manual. That is the fact.

For the rest choice is simple,  PDK-S.

Perhaps you can also classify Walter as clueless because of his preference for the manual version.

Kreso, any news about the touring package?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

What I have a difficult time comprehending is why there is such  perpetual need to argue one's personal choice so stridently.  I can understand why manual fans were angered by the PDK only decision for the .1 GT3, but frankly if there is a choice (as there is now) who really cares about the rest?  The manual camp seems unwilling to accept  that PDK is a bona fide alternative, and the PDK crowd seems unwilling to accept that for some there are other priorities than track performance.  Perhaps their are a few screws loose in both transmissions that need tightening?

Maybe we should ban manual vs PDK discussions too?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Don't get it either. We don't discuss colours, why start with transmissions?

Regarding the Evo article being pointless, Kreso: that's complete bs. If I would be in the market for a manual, I sure would like to hear if the transmission suits the car.

Like all automatic boxes are the same? They differ greatly in feel. The manuals even more.

If someone is manual fan then she or he will choose manual.

If someone is not manual fan then she or he will choose PDK-S.

What transmission suits 991.2 GT3 better?

I will ask differently-is there a point in question above?

Or we can be happy with both options because % of those who are devided between manual and PDK-S are below 0.5%.

That's was also my conclusion about manual vs PDK after I drove  extensively two weeks ago , the same day, the manual GT4 and my RS PDK  on track and off track :

EVO :   If I were predominantly using my GT3 for trackdays, I’d go PDK; but for a car mainly used on the road, I’d opt for the manual.

And that put's me then in the 0.5% that Kreso mentions Smiley

Funny, I just heard that some 911 R customers wrote complaints to Porsche because of the manual option in the new GT3. Reason? It would "devalue" the 911 R.
