If a customer car, I hope he had track insurance. Doubtful his car insurance would cover this.

Happened in a Stockholm..... way richer on cash than on track experience if the name I heard is correct.

Very high speed in to a compression and lost the rear........ Poor carmail

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

No leaves on trees, Stockholm, semi-slicks and lots of power in a RWD car. Sounds like the idiots guide to supercar ownership.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Well, think it was more bad driving than bad tires this time. Around 300kph in to a compression and lost it. But dry road and about 15 degrease heart

    Tried to "drift"?

Btw, looks like we have a $12-14k discount in US on that car, Weissach package just went down to just $18k from over $30k.

The Wiessach package is $18,000 for the 3RS. I couldn't understand why Porsche was charging 2RS owners $30,000 unless the Mag wheels were included.Smiley

Wheels are included, the price reduction is for the missing titanium cage that comes with the package in ROW.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

    The farmer:

Here’s the latest report on the never ending story about PAGs non German like behavior (production fuck ups....).

April 8th, I received an e-mail letting me know that my car was built, properly checked by Porsche technicians and ready to be shipped. Since the, I learnt it went to the exclusive department. And there it’s been for three weeks now.... So I started to investigate when the car could be expected at my door and now the latest news is:

All GT2’s are due for extra quality controls before being released to the customers?!! VERY strange I would say, since I have at least six friends that have received there’s and they have not been approached that they need any check up. So what the f... is going on???

New predicted arrival of my car is now v23-24 i.e TWO MONTHS after I received the e-mail saying it was ready to be shipped....mail

Any one of you heard anything about any newly discovered quality problems with the GT2 ?

My car has been stuck in Custom Tailoring for 14 days now.  And no, I don't have any special CXX requests.  It's a just poor man's black car with red alcantara interior.  I have no idea why it's taking that long at custom tailoring.  My friend's car, also from the same dealer, was produced on the same day as my car, is now at Emden waiting for transport.  Smiley

Don't know. repost the pic from Rennlist.

But that script is easy to apply anyway, so it doesn't really means it's a factory car.

Factory drivers will not have an accident like this, they know how to drive.

Did not a Porsche factory driver get killed on the German Autobahn a few years back due to a collision with the barrier?

Not that I want to start an argument, when did I ever, but I don't think that factory drivers are immune to accidents like these. Factory drivers are certainly more skilled and better at assessing the risks than most drivers, but sh*t still happens... SmileySmiley

What was the Ring time for the 720S? It was 7:14. Even the GT3.2 beat it with time of 7:12.

The GT2RS Cd is 0.35 and I have seen 720S quoted at 0.36 also they both top out at 211/212mph which indicates similar drag (yes I know lots of over excited fan boys said the GT2RS was limited and could do 220+ but that is BS)

How does the above fit in with the GT2RS wing creating extra drag (explaining the slower acceleration numbers) if it did surely it would be reflected in the Cd ?

I think the real  reason is to do with the 720S power curve compared to the GT2RS, check out the manufacturers full load diagrams, the 720S has over 700PS from 6500rpm to 8000rpm whereas the GT2RS has 612PS at 6000rpm

Put another way the 720 just has a lot more area under the curve......

For some unknown reasons McLaren's don't seem to be able to do good laps at the Ring. Even the mighty P1 failed to crack 7 mins.

What was the MPG of the GT2 RS on the Hockenheim lap with respect to water?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

This is embarrassing for Porsche, limited production, their "ultimate animal" loses to a regular production 720.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

What do you really expect though? It's a $250K version of $90K car. The 720S is a $300K car to start with.

Good point.  I haven’t paid very close attention, but doesn’t the 720S have different driving modes where the wing retracts for max speed like the Bugatti?
