Why still no driving report ?

    Hi all!

I can't find any driving reports about the facelifted Cayenne ! Why ?

Usually there is a press presentation and one day later you can find a lot of driving reports from different newspapers or car magazines all over the web.

I thought these press presentation was shortly before christmas

    Any ideas

    Best regards

Good question. We actually wanted to get one for testdriving but...so many ideas...so little time.

I'm surprised however that large magazines like Auto, Motor und Sport or Auto Bild didn't already testdrive the Cayenne. Maybe in the next issue(s)?

Re: Why still no driving report ?

    Hi RC!

May be there is nothing groundbreaking in this facelift

Most of all I'm interested in the new PDCC !

I hope that there is a appreciable difference in driving experience

Re: Why still no driving report ?

U.S. dealer orientation is in Mexico in February, so possibly that's the reason...

Re: Why still no driving report ?

Press presentation is taking place right now in Spain (Cadiz, Andalusia).

So you should have reports in your favourite magazine for the next issue.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

According to my dealer the only difference is the externals and a little extra grunt. The interiors are exactly the same and according to him so are the mechanicals?
If anyone knows different I would love to hear?

??? How about the PDCC, active anti-roll stabilization? That's a major technological development for the chassis that is not available on the current Cayenne. Checkout the PAG website and read about it.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

... not to mention the new Direct Fuel Injection system on all engines. Don't you just love lazy salesmen at dealers who don't bother to find out about forthcoming product changes

I bet the engineers in Stuttgart will be very pleased to hear that their efforts are being sold in such a positive way

    P.S.: PDCC gulps 1 l gasoline extra

Re: Why still no driving report ?

Thanks so much for that link.

Something interesting in it also for non Cayenne models.

In 2007 September the Cayman, Boxster and 911 all will get
Direct Injection - the benefits include better fuel consumption and more power says Porsche's engine specialist Rainer Wild.

So if the V6 Cayenne gained 40hp from DI, what will the Flat 6's gain.

Also it appears the Cayenne V6 is once again available with a 6spd manual in the USA.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

Cayenne V6 has always been available with a 6spd manual in the US.

It's less than 2% (59 units sold in Calendar 06) of V6 sales but every month some buyers are going for stick.

    Hi all!

And here is the second one !

Explains the PDCC very well - must be great

Re: Why still no driving report ?

I like how it says the Turbo driver will be best friends with the gas station attendant Not so good is the statement that the largest Porsche is a car that the world really doesn't need.

    My comment to this report.

It seems that the PDCC make a big improvement in driving dynamic and ride quality.

Re: car that the world really doesn't need.

The only car we need , is a Dacia Logan ( Air Conditioning and Fog Lights are optional) or a Fiat 500, ans of course nobody need a SUV in the City.

    But:
In every magazine they are writing bad things about SUV's , I can't hear/read it any more.
I like SUV's and for me it's a big pleasure to own and drive a SUV.
We live in a Democracy and we can buy and drive what we like.

You're right. However, it really ticks me off when driving behind an SUV and not seeing anything over it, not to ention all the women using cell phones while driving around in their big and safe car (although the pedestrian, outstretched across the bullbars would probably disagree if he lived long enough.

Okay, so I'm Internet challenged. How can I translate this report into English?

Go to Google, click on Language tools (small text to the right of the SEARCH button), then either copy/paste blocks of text into the big form or just enter the URL of the site in the smaller form below.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

There's also this one (CLICK HERE) that needs no translation.

So the new and optional PDCC reduces lap time at the ring by 5 sec, that is a big achievement!

Re: Why still no driving report ?

    Thanks for the link Gregor.

PDCC sounds impressive, but not sure if people will need it in regular daily driving condition or off road. It seems to be a benefit for track use only.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

Tim, it helps off road also. Example, when traversing very rough surfaces wobbily body motions are eliminated - and the wheels/suspension, when one is higher or lower than the others going thru holes, they react in a more positive contolled way for better stability. It also corners flatter at all speeds and provides for better emergency handling. I think the article reads that with PDCC you also get three levels of selective suspension contol street, track and off road.

So overall the PDCC gives definite benefits on/off road and at the track. It is a expensive option and also requires the optional PASM on non Turbo Cayennes.

I am sure we will be hearing lots about it soon.

Re: Why still no driving report ?

I agree with Jim, this option sounds like it may have significant benefits off-road. The action is similar to the disengagable sway bars that were a part of the technical off-road package in the old Cayenne series. What it gives you is more suspension travel, meaning all four tires can maintain better contact as you cross uneven terrain.

    Autoexpress on the Cayenne V6:
    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/firstdrives/204904/porsche_cayenne.html

    Quote:
Despite the restyled looks, the Cayenne is still no beauty queen. However, if you like your off-roaders fast and furious, the Porsche takes some beating. The entry-level V6 model benefits most from the changes, but despite slightly improved fuel economy, it's still expensive both to buy and run. So although the Cayenne is undoubtedly talented, the revisions do little to broaden its overall appeal. What it really needs is a decent diesel option.
