    PSE query re: electrical modification

    Guys,

If one does the electrical disconnection on the PSE, obviously this keeps PSE on all the time without having to use the on/off button (if Sport Chrono isn't fitted) or the Sport Chrono button (if Sport Chrono is fitted).

However, please could somebody here confirm that if you do the electrical disconnection modification, this also ensures that the PSE cut-off won't kick in between certain speeds. Sorry if this has already been answered before.

Re: PSE query re: electrical modification

I am sure I read that its totally disabled thus the cut off wont work..

    throt..

Re: PSE query re: electrical modification

Not an answer to your question but as a side point re the PSE, the dealer from whom I bought my Boxster last week told me that disconnecting the PSE like this is identified by the engine diagnostic system. Worth knowing if you plan to do any warranty claims...

He also told me that it makes the engine go into a certain mode which means 1.5 litres more fuel consumption per 100 km (that's the way fuel consumption is measured on the Continent).

Don't know if there's any truth in that...

Re: PSE query re: electrical modification

Yes, the cut-off will be disabled. The mod allows the PSE to be on all the time, period.

"1.5 litres more fuel consumption per 100 km"

Could somebody please confirm whether the above 2 claims are correct?

If so, is it not better to do the PSE modification by removing the hose and taping over the ends? Surely the engine diagnostic system won't be able to realise that the modification has been done if it is done that way...

I had thought until now that the electrical disconnection is the better way because it is neater and more easily reversible. I know that there are plenty of other threads on the PSE modification but a brief conclusion summarising which is better would be helpful and appreciated...

If it does identify it, it will identify a connection fault. Nothing more so no problem in any warranty claim. Althouth is strange that and aftermarket mod will be connected to the ECU fault detection system.

The second observation is just plain .
What you are doing is just activating a secondary pipe in the exhaust. The engine does not care about it. You can take out the CATs and silencer and you might even get more HP for the same fuel comsuption
