    Mmm never heard of that.... my service manager did an ECU update last year and said he had been given the update from his contacts at the factory and it should be quicker in the lower gears Smiley

    I would have thought this is probably BS but I didn't call him out as he's a good lad, probably just a bit giddy Smiley

    There is a good video by the Drag Times guy Brooks who data logs boost in the different gears on his 720S and it seems that the lower gears get less boost by design for traction, this is really apparent whilst driving as the acceleration gets more savage after every change hence the 0-300 in as low as 18.6s,

    I think a 720 is one of the fastest car outthere - however, to compare it with a 992TTS is wrong as to me they appeal to two different group of clientele. I am also not comparing boot space , fuel efficency and acceleration time in the wet - nor 12 month "useability" - a 720 is for people who occasionally seek  a thrill - whereas a 992 is a daily banger capable of hanging on the tail of real supercars with a driver much less skilled on normal road tires....

    No doubt the 992TTS will be more sure footed in winter months but the 720S is an awesome daily driver, seriously in normal mode it is like a limo with incredible supple ride but with the benefit of amazing feel compared to the Porsche, OK I'm comparing with 991.2TTS which I bought new but sold after only 750miles because I found it horribly uninvolving and it just felt heavy and not playful. Typical 992TTS buyers must surely look at second hand 720S, tthey are enticingly cheap !

    Can'r disagree with what you say re the 720 but I am thinking these new 992s are looking quite indiscreet especially compared to the previous 911s and the 992ttS is pretty damn flashy Smiley, on top of that they are now expensive and people kind've know that.....

    The 911 Turbo S is and always was the (almost) perfect daily driver. I drove my former R8 V10 Plus to ski resorts, I wouldn't do this in my Huracan Performante because the car sits lower and damage may result in much higher cost. I drive it in winter time though but mostly on dry roads and with winter tires. The 911 Turbo S could be used for driving to a ski resort, no doubt but as a weekend fun car, for occasional fun drives, cars like my Huracan Performante or the 720S are the much much better choice. Believe me, I had a 991.1 Turbo S and got rid of it only after 6 months of driving. It got boring so fast, this car didn't give me anything on an emotional level. Fast isn't everything I'm afraid.

    One of the reasons I never got a McLaren 720S (I was even looking at the 765LT lately...) is the sound and the fact that it lacks AWD (for me, the AWD is part of the fun because I can do things others can't). Also, I really think that a car like the 720S or 765LT makes mostly sense for the Autobahn but this is just me maybe. If you fiddle around with the traction control, the 720S can be a beast on public roads, so... Smiley I can handle the Performante's Corsa mode quite well though but more power would certainly be an issue. Again...talking public roads here, not the track.

    The 720S is a monster indeed and before I would choose a 911 Turbo S as a weekend fun car, I would always choose the 720S over it. Sorry. This is not about the looks necessarily, the new 992.1 Turbo S looks quite nice if you ask me but about the whole package, including power and maybe even sound. While the 720S doesn't sound really great, it still sounds much better than a 992.1 Turbo S. Then, there is that special feeling you get when you sit in the 720S, it is a super sportscar feel. In the 992.1 Turbo S, you get the feeling of sitting in a 911...or Taycan...or both or maybe even a Cayenne. Smiley Porsche needs to learn to visually separate the sports cars interiors from their other products if they want to keep them special.

    Personally, I found my dream car...my Performante. If I had to choose another car now, based on a performance/price/emotional ratio, I would probably get a 765LT or maybe even "only" a 600LT. McLaren has excellent offers, the only thing I do not like about them is the availability of dealerships/workshops and the rumoured reliability issues (I know this only from owners, so I could be wrong).

    and their sight is getting rarer around here , probably because of all what you mention . My dealer still said all his allocations until fall are sold out . 

    I would definitely choose the 720 as a fun or special  car . The 992 only if money was no issue  ( price is crazy, but so is now most of the 911 range ) and I wanted it to be my main DD.

    It does make sense -  the 992 buries the prior ones in that it is big fat oversize, quite a negative

    If you only want to stare at it yes. Drive it and I am sure you will change your mind. I have driven a few 992's including the Turbo S and unless if you want to track it, where it was never the right car, I would say that this car is way above 991. The 992 Turbo S handles well and is bloody fast.

    So I built a blue/blue/blue turbo S Cab w a couple performance options [pasm and sport exhaust] only and it's $222,000 USD.  Why bother.  It'll depreciate 70K$ overnight as well.  I'll stick w the Touring
