    AUTOMOBILE magazine on car lemons and Porsche

    I was reading the most recent issue of AUTOMOBILE (U.S. mag) yesterday (mit GT3 cover story), and there was a half-page Q&A with an attorney who specials in representing car owners against manufacturers. One pair of questions was: Who are the best companies in dealing with on lemons? Answer: BMW and Honda, though we almost never see a Honda lemon. Worst company: Porsche -- those guys think they don't do anything wrong. The most trouble-prone company he mentioned was Mercedes.

    When I read that I chuckled a little bit...I guess because I think Porsche does nothing wrong as well.

    A service advisor told me many years ago that I should count myself fortunate for not receiving a Honda lemon. At first, I did not believe him though he confirmed that, like UFO's, Honda lemons did exist.

    Why does Porsche install tailored wiring harnesses based on the options ordered? Which other manufacturers follow this production method?

    I went back to the dealership 4 times for the same problem with a 996 back in 1999. Could've used the lemon law but just accepted it as it was part of the quirky electronics. From my personal experience... the lawyers are correct... Porsche does act as if they don't do anything wrong and somehow it is the buyer conjuring up the gremlins.
