New Car Build - PASM sport suspension (- 20 mm) incl. PDCC / Powerkit

Think I've decided I'm going to go for a car to my spec for delivery March rather than a pre built car.

Getting a good idea of what I want, but am most confused about the suspension...

I think I want the PASM Sport Suspension (-20mm) but I am unsure whether to combine this with PDCC or not?

Also it's a lot of money but in a moment of madness I considered the powerkit?  Is this a waste of money?

I still can't decide between 2S or 4S,  think I'm leaning more back to 2S now, hence the thought of Powerkit as I could have a 2S with Powerkit for the same price as a 4S?....

    Decisions, decisions......

Been there... I think in order to have an easier decision you should ask yourself how often you want to drive the car on bad weather or/and bad roads. Also mind the fact that on resale almost nobody cares about the powerkit but everybody loves the C4S/AWD system. I wanted a daily driver so for me the decision was easy (I went for the C4S instead of C2S+powerkitX51).

Yeah, don't think the Powerkit is a runner really....

What do you think about the suspension?

Re: New Car Build - PASM sport suspension (- 20 mm) incl. PDCC / Powerkit

The suspension it's a tough one... Depends so much on what someone likes in cars... I don't like electronic suspensions too much but I wanted the S version + PDK so PASM was a must + Sport Chrono and the sport exhaust.

So I only thought about the -20mm option or/and PDCC. And since I want to keep the car for a longer time (so I would like less things on it that might go wrong) combined with the bad roads we have, I skipped both.

However, if I would have nicer roads around me, most probably I would pick the -20mm option but still no PDCC since I don't like the artificial feeling of it (the car doesn't dive or sway when you expect too but towards the end of the physical limit does that suddenly). In this particular scenario I would pick feeling over efficiency. To me a system like PDCC was invented for heavy cars not for sport cars and later was adapted to them. A C4S is not a GT3 so I said no to it (plus that it adds weight and hydraulic pumps and oil tank and so on). But if you like the Playstation cars feeling like the Nissan GTR, go for it.

For speed limited countries, the powerkit doesn't make much sense since the additional power performance advantage benefits mostly the hight speed range above 160 kph and more.

Talking about PDCC, I have a different opinion on this one. Yes, it has been developed for heavier cars (body roll and all) but it does actually enhance 991 performance dramatically. The drive feel can be a little bit artificial but on the other hand, you are going to be much easier fast than in the non-PDCC equipped car. Downside: When PDCC comes close to physics limitations, the over- or understeer (depending on how you drive and the driving situation at hand) is more spontaneous and maybe less predictable than with a non-PDCC equipped car. Overall, I would add all the performance enhancing goodies to the 991 but this is my personal opinion. If you like a firm ride, the PASM sport suspension (-20 mm) is just right for you. The PDCC is a matter of taste but like I said before, it is less challenging during normal driving but can be more challenging at the limit until you get used to it.

You said the same thing as me! So we have the same opinion! :) Thumbs up!

I wouldn't order PDCC or Sport PASM without driving them back to back with the normal systems for personal assessment. If they were not available for comparison I would stick to the standard option.

Re: New Car Build - PASM sport suspension (- 20 mm) incl. PDCC / Powerkit

I drove 991 C2S with standard PASM and with optional PDCC/-20mm. For me there isNO comparison. Sportier setup is SO much better that I would never order 991 in standard form. It is a sportscar after all...

Re: New Car Build - PASM sport suspension (- 20 mm) incl. PDCC / Powerkit

Which option is more crucial in your opinion, SPASM or PDCC? Did you try normal PASM with PDCC or SPASM without PDCC?

SPASM, since I tried it on base 991. PDDC addsanother extra dimension and you need some time to fully get use to tje way it works.

    Thank you!
