    PCCB on 997TT??

Hi all. I'm putting together a tentative list of items for my order of 997TT - not that I will be able to order anytime soon - probably this summer - if I'm lucky.

I am considering PCCB's - although I will not track the car, and therfore will never need their capability - or will I? The only real "plus" I can thin of is no brake dust - and thats not much for almost 9 grand.

Do PCCB's help more than that - am I missing something - or are they really only useful for really hard-ass driving? TIA

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Standard brakes are great for road use: Porsche anchors are legendary!

I have the same dilemma as you. PCCB looks cool and for my occasional track work are fanatastic. But frankly the standard brakes are enough for what I do.

Balancing this PCCB last longer in normal use (at least 3 times as long probably) and the brake dust doesn't eat the paint on your wheels.

Is all that worth 9 grand? Probably not unless 9 grand is not an issue to you. However.... they are so cool.... and yellow.....and bigger...oh what the h*ll I'll 'ave 'em!

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

With dustfree brakes, your car will look awesome everyday , everytime after long spirited drive for the entire week ...btw, yellow is "IN" trend for brake calipers ....i.e if money is not the issue.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

People comment that the PCCB has a better pedal feel...

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Its not so much the money - but rather that if I spend about $9000 on brakes - its got to be for something. It just seems totally wasteful - not that all of it isn't wasteful in a worldly sense.

The new 997TT wheels seem to be "dust-resistant" to some extent. In other words - they could get quite dirty and still not show it.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

In addition to the above advantages of PCCB, you get about 20kg (44 lbs) less unsprung wieght. This helps handling, overall performance and (especially with the 997tt) improved ride qualities . This convinced me that the PCCB was worth it. Hard to know about resale value yet.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

which brings a good question... this is for those who had PCCB before, how much does it cost to get it serviced after finally wear out?

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Good question, dunno but will find out about the rotors 290,000km later.

It's incredibly expensive (well over $10k) to refresh the rotors and they do wear out MUCH faster than Porsche says, especially if you ever drive on a racetrack...

My opinion is that they're terribly expensive as well as very costly to service later. Of course, if money were no object, it's a no-brainer. For me, I am opting for the standard brakes on my tt.
As far as resale, I personally don't belive that the PCCB's will bring much of a return on your 9-10k; 30-40 %, maybe. And I don't think you're resale will be hurt whatsoever if the tt has the standard brakes. Like many great used cars, the next buyer will benefit from your initial purchase, imho.
A pccb equipped car may sell faster than a non-equipped car, but not for much more. Just my opinion, just a guess.
Sorry to ramble, but after hearing what I should expect to get for my 05 997S trade towards the tt, I am a little jaded towards Porsche. Sometimes I consider nixing the tt deal, waiting for the next gen. M-3 and keeping my 997S. If the M-3 were to fullfill my needs, maybe then I'd sell the 997 . Has anyone seen what a two year old M-3 returns in the used car market. My 03 M-3 (sold) with a projected 20k odometer would still return roughly 12-14k less than MSRP; not bad. Not much to do with PCCB's, again, sorry.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Paint the brake calipers yellow .

Just curious --- how bad was it? I'm going to trade my 997 C2 toward a TT - and not sure what to expect.

I obviously live in Upstate, N.Y., so I don't know what geographical price difference we should expect. Anyway, the dealer has suggested that I might get roughly 20% less than I paid. The car has less than 10k and is equipped with popular options; in mint cond., of course. It's not THAT bad, just expected a little more.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Thats about right. I paid 85K for my C2 (2005). Its in mint condition, and will only have about 5K miles on it when I trade. I expect 55-60K in trade. I guess if i'm going to spend 150K on a TT then trade-in is inconsequential, but its a matter of pride.....

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

That's way too low imo. I've been told about $70,000.00.-$72,000.00. Mine was $87,000.00. There going for far more than the amount you posted at the wholesale auctions here.

    Re: PCCB on 997TT??

Are you getting a launch car?
