    19's vs. 20's....... pics please!

As my turbo is now in pre-production, , its time to start thinking about the wheels. I am pretty much set on the Techart Formula GT or GTS. I have heard peoples opinions on the 19 vs 20 issue. it seems that most think 20's are too big. one thing is for sure, this is going to be a cruiser car for me. Its a third car, a few trips a year to the track (with stock wheels on, of course), def not anything near a daily driver. does anyone have pics of 19 vs 20 side-by-side? Id really appreciate it! thanks!

Re: 19's vs. 20's....... pics please!

The problem with going with 20" wheels is that there aren't a whole lot of tire options to choose from. That's the biggest reason why I didn't go with 20".

I think 19" wheels are big enough for a car as big(small) as the 997. No need for bigger wheels really. I even wouldn't mind if they were "only" 18".

I would add: harsher ride and more chance to damage the wheels from pot holes in the road due to less compliance in the tires and of course heavier wheels that adds to the unsprung weight.

Yes, 18" are more than enough. Some people even insist that 17" are best for overall performance.

Re: 19's vs. 20's....... pics please!

There is an owner on 6speed who switched from 19s to 20s and then back again for performance reasons.

Re: 19's vs. 20's....... pics please!

Yep, Fred! Even he admitted that switching back to 19's be better from a performance standpoint.

I really do think that 19's is pushing it but it's probably the best compromise between looks and performance especially since you do need them to clear those massive PCCB rotors up front.

Re: 19's vs. 20's....... pics please!

    When I see P-cars with 20s I get disgusted; too f'ed up.

The fact that mine has 19s is hard to accept sometimes.

It's like a classy woman crossing the line and wearing 5 inch spike heels, all of a sudden she's pornographic.

ok guys, thanks for the input. its amazing how much different the perspective can be for different types of cars! now, with the 19" techart formula wheels, would you recommend a drop of anykind or will the wheels fill the wheel wells nicely? thanks!

The wheel wells will look exactly the same as before. Personally, of I were you, I'd wait for a good suspension kit (PASM compatible) to come out and not just play with the springs.
