Agreed Life is way too short to read rennlist. I hope you're right on 4L NA, I dont think I'll complete my order if it's a turbo junior GT2 Smiley

Agreed Life is way too short to read reenlist. ...

I remember reading some older threads on there where RC was giving them actual factual information about the 991.1 TT(S) and they were all telling him he didn't know what he was talking about.

Took my .1 GT3 out for a bit of an airing in the sunshine this afternoon and lit it up a few times.. man what a noise it makes! Would be such a shame to lose that to a turbo..

RC, what is the confusion on the GT4? Seems to me that the success of the car has confirmed to Porsche that they need to offer a manual in the GT3. But in terms of the engine, where to go? A high revvning N/A motor that would outperform the 4-cylinder in the 718 would surely be expensive. A 4-cylinder in a GT4 might not come off well, unless it has crazy performance, which Porsche can never due in a Cayman.

And the answer is that that may not be another GT4 for a while...........

Porsche don't have another engine NA engine right now outside of the new 4.0L, if they put that in the Cayman then the next GT3 will be out gunned.

If Porsche do another GT4, that car will be a turbo-ed 4 cylinder, with the emphasis of the link towards the 4 cylinder 919, no matter how remote that is.

Yes, there will be another Cayman GT4 with a six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and manual gearbox.

The success of the original GT4 has been well noted by Porsche management, providing a great "halo" model for the range.

The Cayman GT4 was heavily oversubscribed and sold out much quicker than expected, as demonstrated by the secondary market levels.

The flat-six engine is a defining characteristic that cannot be replicated by a four-cylinder turbo. Indeed, the five-cylinder engine in the Audi TT RS has considerably more character than the new four-cylinder 718 engine. If you drive a four-cylinder 718 (maybe try one as a courtesy car) you will appreciate what a difference it makes to the character.

Porsche is understandably rather shy to talk openly about future models, as they prefer customers to focus on buying cars from the existing range.

The traditional approach of Porsche's sales strategy is to offer the more exciting models later in the product cycle of a given range.

There will be another Cayman GT4, but we need to be a little patient...

...and after the next generation GT3 and GT3 RS, there may even be room in the product line for a GT4 RS!

The 3.8L N/A Carrera S should live on in the GT4. Make it PDK but offer the same car manual and call it GT4 RS
Later on bring out a super special limited edition GT4 RS 4.0 (with GT3 engine) I will buy this smiley

Honestly, I don't get it. Smiley Maybe the current economic situation is a reason for that. Many wealthy people (I'm not talking about the super rich or wealthy car enthusiasts) don't know where to invest their money and/or they don't trust stocks, investments, real estate, etc., so they buy nice cars. Not necessarily always as an investment but just to enjoy life because they cannot get any returns (interest rates, etc.) anyway...at least this is what they think. In the end, I think that this price bubble will implode and it will also affect used car prices a lot at some point.
