    Sport Exhaust thingy

    Hi there...

    I just have a few thoughts regarding XLF which I hope you guys here can help me out with.. I will install sport exhaust on my 997 when it arrives (will buy a used one soon)

    1. I have Sport Crono in my current boxster and the Sport-mode is always inactivated when I start up the car. Is this the same for the 997? If YES, won't I get the nice startup-sound of the Sport Exhaust since the sport-mode is OFF when I start the car? Or must i turn the ignition-key the first step, switch on Sport, and then start the car?
    2. Is there a noticable different when starting the car with/without sport exhaust? If NO, forget about question no 1
    3. Is it cheaper to retrofit sport exhaust on a car with sport-crono since the "button" is already there if I want the possibility to turn on/off the lovely noice

    Yes its the same. The reason is that it takes a moment for the vacum pressure to build up in the exhaust to close the resonator valves, therfore when you first turn on the key to and start the engine, the first growl that comes out of the exhaust is with the valves open i.e. sport sound on.

    Yes! with the sport exhaust installed the is a noticeable "GROWL" that you just can't help but love

    I believe its cheaper in cars without sportchorno

    I can just imagine the sound of beauty with the sport exhaust.. A car passed by the other day with sport-exhaust on and I got really amazed with the excellent throughty sound...

    Why would it be cheaper without sport chrono? Don't they need to put in a new button with the ability to switch the exhaust on/off? Or do you mean that it will be cheaper if install it configured to be always on?

    Am thinking of doing the same thing i.e. having PSE retro-fitted. Can any one tell me if it's possible to have it fitted, in the UK, without having the on/off switch as well?

    Don't know John, but I got a quote yesterday for a full PSE retro-fit with on/off button and new pipes:

    1050 pounds - parts
    750 pounds - for 7 hours labour
    +17.5% VAT = 2100 pounds total.

    No way I'm spending that much so I'd also like to find out if it's cheaper with no button.

    ooops, no, other way around, its more expensive if you don't have sport chrono.
