    3.4L motor available in the 987S?

    Will Porsche make the 3.4L/295HP motor an option in the 987S. If not, would it be logical to expect it to be easily placed in the 987 chassis?

    I contacted RUF and they told me they will be offering a 3.6 conversion later on this year for the 987. How much you ask?

    Cayman has probably being in development for a while, if they had wanted to put 3.4l in 987 S they would have done so already, this car is marketed as in between 987 and 911 which means if they give 987 S the same engine, no point n cayman at all. right?

    For that amount, I'd want the GT3's 3.6

    That $30K might seem OK to me if it were the 3.8L engine - I wonder why they would bother with the 3.6 when the engines probably cost almost the same $$??

    An Remap of the 3.2 987 engine will deliver 300 BHP

    "Apologies for the delay in reply but we have just released our upgrades for the 987 boxster S, with our ECU re-map (this is undetectable to dealer diagnostics) now takes the power up to 300Bhp and an extra 17 lb/ft of torque, the gains also give improved throttle response and better mid range.

    The variocam system also releases extra power above 5100rpm right to the rev limiter, it makes the car a lot more exciting to drive and the chassis can certainly handle it!

    Cost of the upgrade is Pounds850+VAT and can be carried out at our premises or if more convenient at your home or work the cost is the same.

    I am sure DMS Automotive are a reputable firm BUT I wouldn't let non-Porsche personnel within a thousand light years of my Boxster.

    Dreamcar-they have been featured in GT Purely Porsche and the guy runs his own 996 Turbo. Its not for everyone but it is a quick and easy install

    I am sure the car with 280BHP will be plenty quick enough for me - and I like to sleep at night.
