    The all-new Bentley Mulsanne - blyfooze.com test drive

    Hey Rennteamers,

    Here is the review on Bentley's all-new Mulsanne.

    Although I am a die hard 911 person, with a penchant for mid-engined vehicles, I am overwhelmingly drawn to just about everything from the Bentley stable these days. The manufacturer remains one of the most diligent of carmakers, keeping extreme engineering and the ultimate of finishing and design at the fore. Thanks to VW, they are now way ahead of the rest in terms of luxury and well-thought-out luxury. With the shift of top management from Porsche going over to Bentley, to hopefully lend a helping hand to the "role out of model derivations", and Porsche CEO, Mathias Muller, keen to see the Panamera share with the Bentley platform, the next few years is undoubtedly going to be interesting for the marque. They are also booming in China. From what I hear, they can't fulfil the order book in terms of production!

     Nice review as always Kiran. I really like this bentley, and I'm the kind of person that prefers to drive myself rather than being driven, I'm also not a fan of huge cars. But this Bentley has something special about it, i don't know, I just really like it.

    Hey Emmanuel, It is incredible how, in the face of a somewhat "fuddy duddy" image, the car leaps into emotionally moving you as a driver. That is why I love these new Bentleys so much. Oh and apologies n the original post - it should read "roll out" not "role out".

    Nicely done Kiran.  So, just for Top Gear, how does it actually compare to the Ghost?

    I don't want to overly criticise the ghost, but... unfortunately I have to. I drove the Ghost and Phantom in exactly the same area of Oman as the Bentley Mulsanne. I purposefully did so. The Bentley vs the Rolls is almost no comparison. Rolls has built "fuddy duddy" into the marque. The car is not sporting in any sense of the word. It is very well trimmed, but the build quality again is less than that of a Bentley. Any Bentley. The ghost has an uninspiring ride, little to no feedback from the steering, feels super heavy, and is priced way too high to make sense. It is like that ridiculous designer clothing line that sells you cheap mainland Chinese factory clothing with a GAP label now embroidered on it for seven times the price. Ok, so that may be harsh, but honestly, I felt NOTHING when I drove the Ghost. The Bentleys I have had over the last year have been real eye openers. I never thought I'd get such a kick out of them! I really do want one now. The Continental GT is my favourite - looks wise - but the Mulsanne is a magnificent vehicle too. The supersports is manic, but seems like someone at Bentley just watched too fast too furious, then banged it off the production line!
