    Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs GT3

Assuming facelift 997S gets direct injection with incumbent HP gain - and X51 still offered with incumbent HP gain - how do you decide whether or not to go for the GT3 instead? Any speculation/opinions?

I'd say it makes no difference - as it doesn't make now. At least to me the GT3 versus a Carrera S, or a Challenge Stradale/Pista versus a F360/F430 if you want, isn't the question, as these are different cars for different customers. Some like the raw, racecar-like feel of a GT3/Challenge Stradale/Pista, some like the amenities (in a sports car) that only a Carrera/S/F360/F430 (or Turbo if you want) can offer.

    Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs GT3

when is it rumored to be introduced the new facelift for 997series and direct injection???????

Answering to your question, once the new facelift with direct injection, x51, and leds, reaches to the market, the 997 gt3 mk2 will appear some little time later....so in any case, we are in the same situation

Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs

Lots of recent thread speculating about timing of facelift - developing consensus seems to be MY09 introduced summer 08. Who knows really?

Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs

Starting after the factory vacation in September 2007,997's will get direct injection.

As for X51 then, who knows.

    Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs GT3

I think the meer fact you're asking this questions means the the GT3 ain't for you... I also wondered about the current S with an X51 and even an aero kit, versus the GT3, cause I wanted the smoother ride, and all the other luxuries, such as Bose... they are both totally different cars, for totally different drivers...

    Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs GT3

The ones are pure sports a bit naked in the inside while the others are a bit more comfy in the inside.

A bit like the GT3 and the turbo..

    Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs GT3

Regular city driving, comfort, peace of mind, rainy wheather, luxury important => take the S
Regular track driving, comfort unimportant, risk taking, sunny wheather, luxury comes 2nd => GT3

Thanks everyone for the input - Rossi could have ended this thread with his great, concise answer

I'm still leaning heavily toward replacing my 2005 C2S with the GT3 - sunny Arizona and dry pavement all year round!

    Thanks buddy.

Go for the GT3, Arizona should be the perfect state for such a car!

Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs

I have had my GT3 for about a fortnight and ive found the ride only slightly stiffer than my previous S. You can spec the GT3 in a comfort spec which would be very similar to the spec of a S. The only downside to a GT3 is that its low , oh and if you needed the extra seats .

Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs

Is that slightly stiffer than PASM Normal or PASM Sport?

AFAIK the GT3 also costs much more in scheduled servicing. Its service intervals etc are shorter than the 997 Carrera range. Plus, only Traction Control. No PSM.

Re: Looking ahead - facelift 997S with X51 ... vs

PASM normal , service schedule aint that much different from an S . IMO unless you dont need the extra two seats and your thinking of the X51 on a S with a few options the GT3 would be a better buy. I loved my S but.... and this is only after two weeks of having it that the only down side to this 997 GT3 is that its low but then it makes it look even better. If your looking at a new S in the uk with a reasonable spec its going to be near Pounds72000/Pounds73000 and thats without X51.
Im not a true GT3 driver as many would say , i only plan to track it a few times a year but it really seems fine on our uk roads , performance is fantastic and the sound is a dream. Take in trade in value after 3 years and i think it would more than cover the extra outlay at the start for the GT3.
