If it's going to be introduced in September, it won't be long before we get to see the real thing!
I remember when I asked on this forum a while back whether the 997T would be presented at Frankfurt, and the sentiment was NO, not likely until spring. Any corroborating rumors to the Edmunds talk of a September unveiling? RC? Carlos? Any other European/German-based rennteamers or others?
Edmunds also pegs the 997T base HP at 460-480. This is a tad lower than the 480-490 #'s bandied about. While only a subtle difference, it does bespeak the nature of the turbo "update" from the 996, so if there is only a subtle HP/torque difference in factory specs from the 996 to 997, then doesn't this imply that the powerplant changes will be as minimal as the cosmetic changes are now rumored (?feared) to be from 996 to 997?
They also talk of 0-60 times "less than 4 seconds." Heck, I'm convinced my new 996TSCab does that, even though it's still being "broken in." OK, occasionally I rev it to 6,000rpm's, but if the digital speedo readout is accurate, I've gotta be around 4-flat if not sub-4. I'll need to time it with a stopwatch though to be sure.

So looking on the bright side, for those who have not had the opportunity to drive a 996T/TS for just a day, the 996T/TS is an awesome car. Not that I'm not hoping for a big power boost and some significant cosmetic changes for the 997T (I'd love to see 500+ HP and those "new slim intercooler intakes" on the 997T that Edmunds mentions in their column, but I'm afraid those might be only test mule camo. mods that will be removed so that the intakes will be 996-esque as I believe RC alluded to). But even if only subtle changes in power and performance for the 997T seem uninspiring vs. the 996T, with the 997 Carrera suspension/handling/ergonomics/interior design improvements vs. the 996C's, the 997T should still be a great car.
