Many thanks for the pics. Its always a great feeling using a 11er as snowmobile, Right now we have a lot of snow in Munich downtown as well and on Wednesday it snowed more or less the whole day.

Which actually brings me back to the whole "why do you need a SUV like the X5 M" discussion. Smiley Smiley

Speaking of german streets and snow removal (which is a joke in most cities right now):

Yes of course. I'm quite sure there a plenty of situations where you get not a single chance even to leave only  the parking lot without an SUV.
Pic was taken in winter 2006 NOT in the alps but only in munichs south belt, with my former BMW 4.8iS
    on the right side.

Re: My car under snow this morning

Enmanuel, your country really does have amazing beachs. I go there often.

Just to give some more contrast to this thread Smiley Here´s some pics I took in December 2009 with me and my son having fun on Saona island, known to have one of the most beautiful beach on earth, and it really is.

This was in 2003 in Bavaro area, also very beautiful. These guys are artists that sell their paints on the beach. Nice to have a view like this from your working place Smiley

This takes me back to Haiti again. Smiley

I bought one of those naive art paintings being sold on Bavaro Beach when I was there about a dozen years ago, and was told by the people selling them that most of them come from Haiti.

The painter's name was Blakito. Is he acknowledged as a Grand Master yet, Enmanuel?  Smiley

Re: My car under snow this morning

@ J.Seven: Our beaches really are beautiful, but the island is very diverse, the mountains are gorgeous too and there's a small desert. Its really a wonderful place all round, most people only get to know the beaches on the east or north coast when they are here, but I always encourage people to take one or two days on the city or the mountains to really appreciate how much beauty there is.

@Fritz: Never heard of him, but there are sooooo many paintings for sales on the beaches and even some town and streets that I'd be WAY too hard to keep tack of a single person. Besides its a shame that our culture don't give much importance to artistic talent that way. There are maybe only 2 or 3 famous artists locally.

@Gnil: Its a trade-off, I get to see the beautiful snow scenery (I haven't been in the snow for like 4 years , and I love snow) And you get to see our beaches and plan a wonderful trip with your family over here

Same here Smiley Even more so because I should be in the Carribean on a nice sailing yacht right now, but had to cancel the trip last minute as workload is killing me Smiley
Thanks for the nice pics - both snow and beach Smiley

I hope they are working 24/7 in Spartanburg - my new 4WD daily driver would help a lot in this weather Smiley

Re: My car under snow this morning

I'm going to ask a sort of dumb question but, doesn't all the frost damage the paint? And not in the extreme cases above but like the snow on Gnil's car in the beginning? And If a car is completely covered in snow, doesn't that ruin the car? I've never dealt with snow and cars so I have no idea how that works.

When the snow is as deep as shown above the temperatures are also generally below freezing point, so the snow stays "dry" and does not cause moisture to get into the car. Therefore it doesn't leave any permanent traces or damage.

It probably Smiley also does less damage to the paintwork than strong sunlight would. Biggest risk is that the car is "mechanically" damaged by shovels, brooms or even snowploughs when people start clearing away the snow after a heavy fall. Smiley

PS: Heavy frost in a damp climate can be much more harmful because you can get ice building up on rubber door seals, causing them to freeze shut and possibly damage the sealing lips. You also get side windows siezing up.
