Radio Funtionality/Navigation North

On my '06 CS, when I turn off the RBDS function on the radio, nothing happens. By turning it off, the radio is simply supposed to disply the frequency numbers, and not all the extra garbage like call letters, artist name, etc. Furthermore, since RBDS cannot be turned off, all preset stations are displayed in cryptic code, like A-L and the like, so the 30 preset FM stations cannot be determined at a glance by their frequency number.

Also, with the steering wheel buttons, is it possible to skip to the next preset station? Mine just scans to the next upstream frequency.

Lastly, is it possible to configure the navigation so that North is not always up?

Now all steering wheel controls are dead: radio, tiptronic.

Here's what I remember (sold the Cayenne about a year ago):

Steering wheel buttons can only be used to scan up/down. Not to go through the presets.

Navigation can be set so that the direction you're heading is always up (instead of North). Just press "Set" when on the map. You'll find the according setting on the upcoming screen.

Can't remember if RDS can be turned off.

Headed to the dealer for the third time in 10 days of owning the car. Defective steering wheel control module. I will have put more miles on the Nissan loaner car than I have on my new Cayenne S. When does the "love affair" start?

Guess I am lucky, over 5 months with my new Turbo and no trips to the dealer. 16 months with my 997S and also no trips to the dealer.

i absolutely hate the radio in my tt. pleezzze is there a way to just turn the thing off till you wanted to use in say 5 years.
