Here are some more numbers for you:

According to a 1/4 mile calculator, if the Nissan weighs 1780kg, plus I'm assuming a 160lb driver, and did the quarter mile at 11.6 @ 120.9 mph as Edmunds claims, the car would need 666hp.

If the car has 473hp as stated in Edmunds, using the same weight, the car has the power to do a 1/4 mile in 12.6 seconds, within 95% accuracy. The car would have to weigh 1600kg, or 500lbs less than the stated weight to achieve the 11.6 seconds stated in the article.

Further, with a vehicle weight of 4050lbs, curb weight plus driver, and a claimed 473hp with AWD, the car is capable of 4.0088 second 0 - 60 times. This assumes the car hooks up and doesn't include any turbo lag, (full 473hp at launch).

No amount of 'new technology' can overcome the laws of physics. So in other words, someone is lying.

Nissan is the someone. the car is making 480 hp at all 4 wheels, not at the crank. this explains the acceleration, 1/4 mile and Sportauto Nring time of 7:50. OR Nissan is giving BS press cars to everyone and the car is making 473 hp at the crank. I used to be a none believer, but Im now thinking that the former is whats going on.

The figure of 480HP at the wheels would explain the acceleration. If the Nissan is making 480HP at the wheels, it's making close to 600HP at the flywheel. You can't get a 3850lb car to do a quarter mile in 11.6 seconds with 480 HP at the flywheel. I don't care if you're David Copperfield; all the magic in the world can't ignore the laws of physics!

My point regarding Ring time is Doettinger Hoehe top speed spot... I know that GT-R is few kms slower here then 997 Turbo. So, that is telling us something-either car that von Saurma drove is with stock specs(481ps) or other GT-Rs(as the one used in Japan by Edmmunds) are little bit tuned...

Reaching a lower top-speed at Döttinger Höhe doesn't necessarily mean a slower lap time, does it? But I'm not sure I fully understand your point. Could you please help me and clarify a bit so that we can continue to argue?

Other thing read drive impressions in EVO and Top Gear. They both claim that 997 Turbo is still(true, marginally) faster then GT-R on the autbahn...

Similar remark: Autobahn-speed isn't always in line with a lap-time around a track.

I don't think that's what he meant. What he was likely trying to say was that the Turbo was still faster in a straight line. All of the articles so far have implied that the TT is completely outclassed by the GT-R in all aspects, so I guess he just wanted to set the record straight.

    Yes, very good point Pierre.

GT2 is 100kg heavier and 75hp less than Carrera GT and laps the ring just as fast.

GT2 isn't faster than the CGT and nobody from Porsche has claimed that! You forgot, that the GT2 uses new semi-slick tyres, which are the only reason for this "so closed" to the CGT time around N-ring...

The GT2 is faster than the CGT, Walter Rohlr explains why on this thread.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

In the Best MOTORing quarter mile test, the GT-R won against the Superleggera. Exact figures are not know. Here is a link where I this.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Some of the best footage I've seen of the car

It is in Japanese but the footage is worth it.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

This might be of interest to you guys.

Wheels magazine (Australia) tested the GT-R, a clocked a 0-100kph time of 4 seconds and a quarter mile in 12.1 seconds.

This is with two guys in the car!

Well they did say "two fat blokes"

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

One more thing - an interesting comment about the handling:

"On the road, the Nissan is skittish and uncomfortable, both in terms of throwing the passengers about and in making the driver think he or she's murdering the car as it thumps over, and through, road imperfections. Yes, it turns in like a bloodhound on the sniff, but mid-corner bumps hurl it off line..."

Their opinion was, the GT-R was more at home on the track.

Funny, how you read the opposite thing else where - that it has more "real world" abilities than the 911 Turbo.

A case of: Every a$$hole has an opinion?

ya, but thats best motoring, lol.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

I can't wait to see this car in Targa Tasmania later this year. It will show it's real world ability on those usually very greasy windy roads in Tasmania!

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

That's right. I remember reading Nissan was planning on hitting up Bathurst.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

Targa Tasmania is different from Bathurst. Targa is a closed road race over a number of days. The GTR is entered by a privateer, and will likely be painted pink due to it being sponsored by Doughnut King. But Nissan Australia is also looking at entering the GTR in the 12 hour Bathurst production race. That will be a factory supported car.

I meant, I remember reading Nissan was also planning on hitting up Bathurst.

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

haha you guys act like $70,000 is chump change that everyone has lieing around haha...I know I wouldn't mind one

    Re: GT-R 0-60 in 3.3 S

I am sure for many here $70k is chump change! But I can only wish that the GTR is only $70k where I live...

Us poor Australians pay too much tax.
$70k is not even enough to buy the latest top
of the range, locally built POS Holden or Ford.

    They're estimating $150k once it's in Oz...
