    Rough Running and Engine vibration at ~1850-2100 RPM

    Hi all I am going to make a poll to collect some data for comparison. I have been working with the Cayenne for some time now and need your help. I would appreciate it if you all could participate so we can share the info with the community.

    Just trying to collect sone data because we now have come across two CTT's at my shop that have had coil pack issues, rough running, short of power on a dyno test on our MAHA, and both had cat by-pass pipes which we have removed and replaced with the stock cats. More to come after some testing and comparison of the dyno data

    I can tell you for sure its the coils. I know of about 20 cases now. There was a bad batch in the system, I even know of one case where they replaced them with bad ones. The part number of the NEW part is " 948-602-104-01 Pencil Coil" The bad lot was -00. The bypass pipes have no impact on the problem, its pure electrical breakdown.

    Occasional rough idle (humidity dependant) and stutter at cruise if you increase the revs in the range your talking about.

    The problem damages the plugs also so you will need 999-170-218-90 Spark Plugs

    Porsche are aware of the problem and have ramped up supply of the pencil coils in the US. They are still hard to get right now (2-3days)

    Good Stuff you and I think alike !

    I have allready done the 01 packs and the plugs as well, however both of the CTT's that I have here have a vibration between 1850-2100 that you can feel in Park just revving the engine.

    You can also see it in the exhaust tips and also feel in the drivers side door (door open). Try it and let me know.

    That does sound a bit more like fuel starvation, at idle the roughness is not that bad with the plugs/coils.

    Have you checked the fuel, I have heard of dealers using additives to clean out the system. Does anything show up in the misfire logs ?

    No I am not a Porsche tech, I do live VERY close to a dealer tho' lol....

    I started a threat on Renntech, you might want to go over there and see if Loren has heard anything.

    RC have you heard this one ?

    It is easy to inspect the plugs and coils. That should be part of the routine maintenance.
