Nissan GTR Availability in the USA

I am looking to buy a car from the USA for sure in LA.
Any idea on the availability or the best place to make a purchase?

Any advice appreciated. I will definitely get the ECU unlocked and unleashed the full BHP which some reports say might be up to 700 BHP!

Re: Nissan GTR Availability in the USA

There's some good info about it here: http://www.nagtroc.com/forums/index.php?showforum=192

I'd considered the same thing, but it seems all the dealers want $25k over, or are eBay-ing their allocations.. Typical..

Re: Nissan GTR Availability in the USA

Thanks for the reply. $25K over? Damn, would rather get another 997 for that!

Look for dealers in the Mid-west that'll deliver the car to LA. They're more accustomed to selling Nissan Titan's than any sports car and the pricing may be better because they won't have too many people even asking for them. Stay away from the West Coast if possible. They'll more than likely be the most expensive there.

    Hi,

FWIW, these are the main points I picked up from my web-based research..
    - It would only be large-ish dealers that would be offered the option of carrying GTRs
    - Even those carrying them would get an initial allocation of max 2-3
    - Dealerships carrying GTRs would be required to pay around $50k for staff training, and IIRC, some extra alignment kit or similar. This was being used as justification for the markups
    - Allocations were for some reason skewed towards the east coast

I kind of gave up on the prospect of picking one up for retail price at that point..

Where did you hear that there is 700 bhp available from the stock engine?

Come on, it's somewhere on the internet, so it must be true

Here in Japan a tuning company got 700 BHP out of the engine at the Tokyo Auto Salon the other week - Nissan busted them and took away their dealership rights!

There are some (very few, I'm sure)that will be selling the GT-R at MSRP. The problem is finding a dealer that is participating in the GT-R program and willing to sell it at MSRP. Like someone else posted, there is a high cost of admission. My dealer is participating. If the dealer hasn't signed on yet, it is too late (at least for the first year) from what I hear. Luckily, I am #2 on my dealer's list at have a guaranteed price not to exceed MSRP.

Devo please tell me you got that agreement signed and in writing. I know several guys that got burnt by similar "agreements" they thought they had with their dealership when the Z06 was first coming out.

I do. It clearly states that I am #2 and that the car will be sold at MSRP. I also am a friend of the GM. Of course, that doesn't always mean anything.

    Thanks for asking.

What color did you choose if I may ask?

I will likely go with the dark grey. I already forgot what Nissan is calling it. Can't spec the car yet anyway. That car should be a lot of fun for the money. It's not a Porsche tt, but it's not the cost of one either. I find the GT-R to be very good looking. It has an aggressive, take no prisoners appearance. It should provide great performance and a great place to put car money.
