    997 GT3 detroyed

    At Adria Raceways, near Venedig, 2 997 GT3's were destroyed.
    It was raining and the cars get out of control.

    Sorry, but why people choose to race such high powered cars with no safety net (PSM) on wet, rainy days is beyond me.

    It's TC not PSM...Controls only rear wheels not all of them

    2 997 GT3's? SO it must have been Porsche staff driving them (or are they now available to the public already)?

    Unusual that 2 cars would be destroyed. . .

    Most importantly, was anyone hurt?

    It must be really fun driving a 997gt3 at rain....but again only professional drivers should do it !!

    PSM does not belong on a race car. And the only wimpy race series that postpone for rain are Indy and NASCAR. I personally am glad that these cars are driven hard on the track in all conditions - that's how it should be...

    Agreed. The issue is that people without the skill and experience to drive a GT3 in all conditions get seduced by the image of cars like the GT3, get one, and then go beyond their limits. A C2S is a handful for most people. I for one, know that a GT3 is too much car for me. Would I consider a GT3 if it had PSM? Sure, I'd be tempted, but you're right, PSM has no place on a GT3.

    No not only professional drivers should do it! One of the best and fastest ways of becoming a skilled driver is to drive in the rain. Drive a car that is a handful near or at the limit in the rain is even better. It teaches you to be smooth and easy on the car, things that translate into becoming a much faster and better driver in all conditions.

    People should be forced to learn how to drive on balding snowtires in the rain in a car that is hard to handle and with NO electronics! (a pre-69 SWB 911 comes to mind).

    A healthy respect for a car is a good thing, but too many people here seem to hold these cars in a god like reverence...

    Somebody, here in Italy, saw several 997 GT3 near Padova yesterday...in Padova there is "Porsche Italy" and near Padova there is Adria Raceway!

    I think that they did the italian press presentation in Adria...and the drivers weren't prefessional drivers but journalists!

    I agree, and one does not have to extract too much power and consequent speed out of the car before it begins to writhe and slide all over...a great learning experience for learner disciplined drivers.
    Its safe as long as one knows the limitations of the car, exploit it but at the same time respect it too.

    Sounds like a press launch to me. Destroyed cars. Sightings in more than 1 country. Imminent press articles....

    I worked for a Japanese manufacturer years ago and the main time cars were destroyed was when journalists got hold of them. They put them on their roofs and then we waited for the press coverage.....

    damaged an 997 GT3, then an instructor.
    At the same place on the circuit.

    can someone understand German maybe translate a bit on what happen on track? All I know is just 'rain' and 'out of control'...
