    Brakes squeaking at 1200 miles

    This is probably a dumb question - but its this only from being dirty? And if so, how do I "clean" them?

    take it out, warm the engine up.

    Then, accelerate QUICK all the way up to 80mph, then SLAM the living jesus out of the brakes (pending lock up or abs kicking in).

    Repeat for 5 times.

    THEN, cruise for about 30 minutes for them to cool. DO NOT SIT AT A STOP W/ YOUR FOOT ON THE PEDAL during this time.

    Sometimes dust collects at the "front" of the pad and causes squeaking. Try braking relatively hard in reverse a couple times to dislodge the collected dust. The parts guy at my dealer gave me that tip and it worked for me.

    The squeaky clutch pedal and creaking sounds from the rear window area on the other hand.... dealer hasn't been able to fix those.

    I had the same problem two days ago, and Kevin's tip worked like a charm. No more squeaking!

    Mine started squeaking at 5000 miles and 1300 miles later, still squeak, but given the overall quality of this car, it's not unexpected. On the bright side, the squeaking brakes temporarily obscure the other various squeaks and rattles.

    I seem to remember the manual recommends using a stong jet of water (not power washer)to dislodge brake dust and dirt then to drive the car afterwards. If you use the brakes fairly hard ie drive hard you don't get a problem with the standard brakes.

    Of course you get rattles with a sports car that's driven hard but less with Porsche than most others especially Italians which are terrible!! My latest rattle is fixed by a piece of rubber wedged between the rev counter top and the dashboard top
