Brake pad relacement time?

My car is an 2007 997 C2, it has 4100 miles on it and it just started a very faint squealing noise upon application of the brakes. There are no warning lights on the dash on, and the brakes feel like they always did. With only 4100 miles on it I don't think it should need new pads or rotors just yet. I have always driven performance cars and got on average around 9 to 10,000 miles out of a set of brakes. Also the car is not used for trackdays, it is just my daily driver, so it is mostly in traffic with the occasional freeway drive. What kind of mileage should I expect before having to get new pads/rotors?

Sounds like they are just glazed....? Should be good for a *lot* more than 10k

Agreed. You might need a track day to get rid of the squeel. ;)

Mine also may need replacing. I've done 35k miles and there is still 50% still on them, but the discs are cracked to hell. So, new discs, pads and associated items for me over the nexrt few weeks.

Get out onto a traffic-free open stretch of road and do several hard stops from as high a speed as possible.
That should take the layers of glazed friction pad material off both rotor and pad faces, thereby eliminating squealing noise and improving brake response.

All this talk about PCCB's costing the earth to buy and then maintain just hasn't panned out from anyone I have talked to.
