    A.W.E. Tuning's "Project 700S" for 997TT

    Interesting thread on 6speed from A.W.E. Tuning (based near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania here in the USA) on their "Project 700S" for the 997TT to get a program to make 700 crank HP using a modded VTG Borg Warner made for A.W.E. ("A.W.E. VTG Turbo's"), with a GIAC ECU, A.W.E. Tuning performance exhaust, Brembo brakes, and with the PASM turned off via the Porsche PIWIS scantool-replaced with Motons and H&R springs:

    The goal is to make a 700 crank HP program based on an upgraded VTG BW made for A.W.E. (presumably similar to the ones 9ff, EVOMS and others have done/are doing) operating on 93/91 octane.

    Boy it's fun to sit back and watch others be the guinea pig.

    Al, this is going to be met with alot of trepidation here which is justifiable with regard to engine longevity. The most interesting part of the thread though is the compressor map data:

    A general rule for calculating a turbo's HP capability at 60% efficiency is: 9.5 multiplied by flow.

    Since this is a twin turbo car, multiply that by 2, resulting in:

    K24 : 32 x 9.5 x 2 = 608hp
    Stock VTG: 34 x 9.5 x 2 = 646hp
    Garrett GT28R: 34 x 9.5 x 2 = 646hp
    Garrett GT28RS : 37 x 9.5 x 2 = 703hp
    AWE Tuning VTG: 40 x 9.5 x 2 = 760hp

    Granted, this is a basic formula which does not take into account the turbine design, intercooling, relative efficiency of the engine, etc., but you can see that the numbers are pretty representative of reality with the Garrett's and K24s.



    These are very good numbers for comparison. Those numbers do not mean that the TT can produce that much power because of its own inherent efficiency limitations, but it shows the potential of the VTG's is far beyond 530 hp.

    Any chance you will venture into the 600-700HP range with your 997TT-once thermal and mechanical tolerances are worked out on these mega-mods.?

    Interestingly, those Garrett GT28RS turbo's are the ones my Noble M400 is being upgraded to (stock M400's use the GT28R turbo's you also quoted there).

    I spoke to the tuner of my M400 on the phone this morning, and he dyno'ed it yesterday, with the 93 octane program making 550RWHP and the 100 program making 580. Using a 12% loss estimate, that's, maybe, 615 and 650 crank HP. So my M400, which weighs about 2,600 lbs., becomes an M600 (600HP per ton).
