    [2019] Aston Martin Vantage

    New Aston Martin Vantage Combines Supermodel Looks With AMG Power

     

    Power comes as expected from the AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that here makes 503hp (510PS) and 505lb-ft (685Nm) of torque. Paired to it is an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, with Aston Martin hinting at a manual option later on.

    Aston Martin says they’ve mounted the engine as low and as far back as possible to ensure optimal center-of-gravity and that perfect 50-50 weight distribution. Dry weight is an impressive 1,530kg (3,373lbs). 0-60mph comes in 3.5 seconds (0-100km/h in 3.6) while top speed is 195mph (313km/h).

    The chassis is an evolution of the DB11’s aluminum structure, with Aston Martin claiming that 70 percent of it is new for the Vantage. The rear subframe is now solidly mounted to make the driver feel more connected while the suspension employs double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. The latest generation of active dampers are also present, offering three modes: Sport, Sport Plus and Track.

    The new Aston Martin Vantage is also the company’s first model to use an electronic rear differential (E-Diff). Linked to the vehicle’s electronic stability control system, the new differential adapts its characteristics much more cleverly than a conventional LSD, making the car feel more composed, both on a straight line and while cornering.

    Aston Martin has opened the order books for the all-new Vantage today; prices start from £120,900 in the UK, €154,000 in Germany and $149,995 in the US. The first cars are expected to be delivered during the second quarter of 2018.

    Yellow doesn't help that car at all, it needs a more elegant color, the grey already looks much better

    Not bad, bit expensive. Looks like it has too many buttons in the center. Neat design, but very busy looking.

    Nice fresh and modern but:

    - it has lost the elegance of the old model
    - no dual clutch which contradicts the sporty language they are moving towards.

    I guess I am never selling my Vantage roadster smiley

    I dont know what Aston is doing. They loose their masculine character. The DB11 already looked soft washed, this car looks better from the rear but the front is boring, too. 

    Interior is ok to me, while the seats are looking like the ones of a Nissan GT - too bulky. 

    It seems while Bentley found its design line Aston is loosing it.

    Yeah, this is essentially a Mercedes with an AM body, which is probably the best thing that it possibly could be. I wish Mercedes would have bought AM and just turned AM into a much more exotic brand with their performance expertise and bankroll.

    Hopefully they make a "V12" Vantage version that's akin to the AMG GTR.

    LOL. Looks like more of Mercedes carrier over than one would ever have expected. Ugly, pointless Mercedes-style side-gill option, anyone? They are reallllllllllly reaching for profitability with these kinds of options haha.

    The exterior looks more like Mazda than AM.

    I really liked their old designs. 

    The seats looks like the ones in the LC500.

    But the rear looks a bit exotic.

    I am so glad I got in before this 'new' one.

    The front looks out of proportion with the tiny headlights and giant grill. 

    The whole car looks like someone put the previous generation Vantage in an oven and the car semi-melted.

    Great decision. For a while I wanted to ask you if you had a choice between the Vantage V12s and the F12 which would you choose?

    Well it took 10 years for AM to update the Vantage. In 10 years all these cars will be full electric angry

    Great decision. For a while I wanted to ask you if you had a choice between the Vantage V12s and the F12 which would you choose?

     

    It's been chosen already. My Aston replaced my F12.

    The Aston drives and feels like a keeper. I had initially thought the F12 was perfect for a keeper GT car. Bottomless power and comfort. But in the end I realize it has just about too much power. And slightly too big in size.

    The Aston is down about 150HP, but don't care as it has enough power for my needs as a daily. It is a smaller car so easier to maneuver, the dogleg manual is charming. and that V12 just sounded glorious low down, it can't match the Ferrari V12 at the top of the rev range in sound, but I seldom running at 8000rpm on the street anyway.

    Ergonomics is a wash, neither is perfect and need getting used to. Both has sofa seats and equally comfortable, but the Aston is a little bit softer strung on the default setting. Put it in Sports mode in suspension and it equals the default in Ferrari. Ferrari's bumpy road setting is still that little bit better in handling dips and bumps, but not a huge difference. 

    Styling wise Aston wins by a galaxy mile. The body is like 14 years old but when it parked next to the new one, it still outshines the new one, or any other car for that matters.

    My AM is a keeper.  Something is lost in the update and whilst it is probably a better all-around car, it holds little appeal.

    James Bond wouldn’t be caught in anything that vulgar-looking. Wouldn’t match the dinner jacket at all 

    I much prefer the current V12V. Timeless in comparison kiss

    Its amazing how Astons can do this but this is very true. Unfortunately this seems lost in this new Vantage, don't think it will age well, it doesn't keep the Aston design philosophy and seems they tried too hard to make it look too modern and aggressive for some reason.

    AM needs to sell new cars in the present, not old ones in the past. If it doesn't age well, so be it. It's not like 2011 DB9s are a hot commodity.

    If a design can last 5-6 years, that's plenty good enough.

    That's short-sighted, if Aston looses its image and attraction, then they will loose and disappear in the long run. Astons are not bought because they are the best sportscars out there, its because of their character, looks, and quirks.

     For once our thoughts are similar.  I've misidentified a couple of DB 11s because I thought it was a Tesla Model S when viewed from the front and in traffic.
